Same old same old
Would have started a lot better had the lady on the golf shop reception refrained from calling me darlin or love every second word, very classless.
Sadly also, the course still did not impress since the last time I was here, a couple of green keepers short of being not bad.
That said, it’s still a fair test, some easy holes counter balanced by some nasty’s.
Layout is good given the landscape etc though the big black mark is the insane pace of play, 4 hr 26m !
Most of which was accompanied with a grass cutter until I had to ask him to go cut grass somewhere else!
All that said, at £27, I have to give credit and all in all, decent value for money, more course maintenance and it would be great value for money, though I’m sure that won’t happen anytime soon.
Course conditions
Loved playing here as always but felt the course could do with a tidy up. There are cans and bottles strewn around the course and would take a youngster on a Saturday morning a couple of hours to walk round and tidy up for pocket money. The tee boxes are also littered with broken tees. Some of the greens are in need of some water and attention. Having said this I always enjoy playing here.
Wet n boggy but nice course
Nice course bit wet this time of year alot of plugged balls in the fairways. Greens in good in good condition. Love the 18th green outside the clubhouse. Confusing layout if not been there before. But would recommend for sure
Wet, very wet underfoot, but lovely course.
Tried to play a quick round in the morning forgetting that as it was Monday I would be following the seniors around. Despite that the pace of play wasn’t too slow.
I hadn’t played this course since last year and there appears to be a Lot of ground work being completed and continuing. With works going on through several holes. The most significant work is on hole 9 where a deep bunker is being put on the inside of the dog leg, meaning the tee had been moved approx 170 yards forward to avoid tee shot slowing the works. The course was very wet as expected given the recent weather however the tees were off of the boxes and not mats which was nice. Greens as always were very good, especially on the raised sections of the the course as it works it’s way up the hill.
Apart from the wetness of it all (which cannot really be helped given the recent storms) the course played nicely and I will be visiting again.
Good challenge
Although the Greenwood Course was a little bit wet under foot due to recent rain the round was a joy to play in the spring sunshine. Each hole gave you a challenge, the greens were excellent and every member of staff were polite and a credit to the Club.
Unbelievable conditions and quality club house
Perfect course, challenging but great views. You wouldn’t of even guessed it had rained an hour before we went out, perfect greens whole way round. Club house also brilliant, genuinely best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Highly recommend both courses and club !
A great find
I was looking for somewhere to play on the weekend with my son. Taking full advantage of GolfNows hot deals, I found East Horton and booked for 11.40 tee time. Weather had been dry on the run up to the day and the course although obviously winter conditions was very playable. Greens were in good condition and very nice to pitch into. The course has some great holes and the 17th par 3 is a real tester with water from tee to green. We found the odd hole where we wondered where the next tee was and the score card doesn’t have a course layout, so an app on your phone might come in handy if playing for the first time. We will 100% be returning.
Will definitely be back
Thanks to a great offer through GolfNow, I got to play the Greenwood course with my son on a weekend. Staff on the reception were very friendly and explained everything we needed to know prior to starting our round. Although we played the course in January it was in good condition and the greens were very playable. The course has some awesome holes on it and the pace of play was just right. The 17th 150yd par 3 over water from tee to green is a great hole. We drove 45 mins to get to the course and would happily do it time and time again. We both came of the course very happy with our day at East Horton and can’t wait to go back.
Wouldn’t recommend
Course was in very poor condition. Only reason it never got 1 star is because the greens where half decent. Tee boxes and bunkers where terrible and fairways don’t look like they get cut there is no difference between rough and fairway. Disappointed.
Wonderful course , very hilly and 18000 steps but great facilities
Good course
It's a good course with well maintained greens.
However, one of the par 4s was closed and temporarily converted into a par 3. which is ok if i knew before i booked and arrived. temp greens and holes should be pointed out before the booking is made.
Great course
Great course and facilities. We warmed up on the range which was good. And then enjoyed the round thoroughly. 2 small points to take in to consideration. The bunkers are unplayable (but to be expected this time of year) directions from each green to tee are pretty much non existent (could just be us not paying attention). Do not let those 2 points detract from how good we found this course and how well kept it was considering the recent weather.
