Narrow tree-lined fairways and a creek which you often encounter make Lackland AFB's Gateway Hills Golf Course a fun round. The ninth hole, playing up a steep hill is a real experience as is the elevated green on 18. If you have a friend who is in the military and can get on, Gateway Hills Golf Course a worthwhile option with well manicured greens.
Gateway Hills Golf Course is laid out on 200 acres featuring extreme elevation changes overlooking San Antonio. The golf course meanders 6,900 yards from the back tees with many strategically located bunkers and a host of oak and mesquite trees. Friendliness
The staff I met the clubhouse was very friendly and helpful. My experience with the JBSA golf courses the staffs here at Gateway Hills have nice very customer service .Very respectful iregardless of race,non military or military.Unlike at Fort Sam Houston where in there is this person named Tony that thinks he is the owner of JBSA.
Great Course
Greens were great as well as the fairways! Price was very nice! Brandon and Jack very helpful! You need to play it defiantly worth it!
Fighting the Drought and Doing an Admirable Job
Staff is the best. Everyone in the Pro Shop AND out on the grounds are helpful and pleasant to a fault!
Good Time
Nice staff. Good practice area. Practice putting available. Not so crowded for a weekend. Slower groups allowed me through. Definitely challenging setup.
Great deal
Course is in good share. Pace of play was very good, bunkers need work, few soggie area but course is overall in very good condition.
The course is in excellent shape. Greens are looking good. Would like to have a five some . No to many golfers after 10:30 in the morning on weed days.

The fairways are wide open, And we laugh when we miss them. I am a beginner/ part time player so it’s a perfect course for me.

I love this course and have found the true meaning of golf at the Top of the 9th hole.

Lackland is in great shape!
I've played three of the Alamo Trails courses. While they all have their own charm and while all have to deal with our drought, Lackland's fairways and greens are in terrific shape! The tee boxes were easy to put tees into.
They also have plenty of water along the course which was very helpful!
The staff is very delightful to interact with and very accomodating.
mediocre course at best
Course not well maintained. cart paths broken concrete, pot holes and overgrown with weeds. Fairways had spots that were like concrete. Greens were comparable to that of a putt putt golf course. By far the worst military base course I have played
Great place
Wide open course, fast greens reliable carts, easy hole to hole layout. No complaints!!
Challenging
Fun round. Lot of hills. 9 and 18 just slanted putting.
Slow
Slow is the name of the game. Granted, I was a single but no one seemed to notice me waiting on every shot. Quit after 11 holes. Couldn’t wait anymore
