Short but challenging.
I’ve played this course a Number of times in all seasons, it drains very well in the winter and Can get baked hard in the summer meaning the ball runs for miles! While there are only 2 bunkers on the whole course both on the 18th it really doesn’t need them as the difficult sloping greens and cruel pin positions ensure any approach shot Is taken with consideration. The pace of play is generally very good as to be expected on a short course but it can get congested on the final 3 holes. The condition of the greens is always good but they never seem to be quite as quick as you’d expect. Overall it’s a nice little course and I’d recommend it to all.
Nice Course
Nice - except I have reservations about whether people were playing without paying on the back 9.. as they randomly appeared and disappeared.
Also came back to my wing mirror having been bent backwards in the course car park.. when I was parked in a bay and not obstructing anyone which are reasons someone may justify doing that..
Slight disappointment in what was a nice course.
Feb 2020
Good value winter golf, more signage needed, remarkably dry after bad weather.
Great choice for wet winter days
Played midweek in mid-Jan, following prolonged period of rain. Amazed at how unsoggy the course was given the recent awful weather - nice fairways, greens quite slow but true. Also v friendly club pro, and characterful old-style clubhouse. Only reservation would be compact nature of layout, with several overlapping holes - fine when the course was quiet (as it was for me), but could get lively/dangerous when busy!
Best Winter & Short Game Course in Surrey
After playing Selsdon on Saturday (16/11/19) the course was so boggy, semi-rough was like a swap and even the fairways were muddy, it was an absolute delight to be able to play Epsom the following day. Condition of the greens and fairways were like playing in Portugal! Walked off with no mud what so ever on the buggie, up my legs or indeed my face. Without a doubt the best winter course in surrey. The greens are immaculate and very fast. The only complaint is the signposting is poor but if you refer back to your scorecard directions are perfectly clear. Not only that but members were more than helpful in advising and very welcoming and chatty having stopped in the clubhouse after for a beer. If you are looking to improve your short game and certainly putting and keen to bare it in all weathers, this is the course for you. Excellent and highly recommended. The only reason not five stars on value for money is the lack of bunkers. (only 2 on the 18th) so people would struggle to improve their bunker play should this be their aim of playing the course. Also the pace of play was good until the 17th when there was a bit of a traffic jam.
£5 would be a fair price
We accidentally skipped half the holes because the signage is non-existent. After a member informed us of this we were so underwhelmed by the course that we didn’t bother rectifying our mistake. The reviews described the greens as ‘lightening fast’ but this could only be true if compared to putting in a meadow. The whole experience was basically terrible - find another course
Never Again
Not great, would never play here again. So poorly signed that we accidentally skipped 6 holes and were so uninspired by the course that we didn’t even bother going back to play them. Not sure how this course has a rating of 4.4 especially as there are no bunkers apart from on the 18th. If you’re reading this then do yourself a favour and play Mill Ride instead
Decent course for the price
considering there were no bunkers or water on this course it was a decent challenge as the greens were like putting on glass !
not too long either, would deffo recommend, only negative would be joe public walking on the course and the road to cross inbetween holes
great views fof epson race course that the deby run
I was made very welcome + course was great +
greens were also great. Its 125 years old.
sand traps all with good sand.
When you get to the 17 hole that a par-3 but you
got to take your shot from same area its a big hill.
Plus the 18 hole the hole is within a small gap
100 yards from green
I when to the club house that was small + great
and members made me very welcome
Average at best
The course signage is poor, took a while to actually find the tee boxes. Had to cross 3-4 40 mile and hour roads that were also very close to the course leaving no room for a mistake.
Greens were exceptionally quick but made it a challenge.
Given a choice I wouldn't play here again, better courses for similar money.
Too many roads
Very well maintained course with a couple of very pretty holes and no bunkers!! The staff in the pro shop were very friendly, but unfortunately the course is let down by the layout - they have done very well to squeeze 18 holes into a relatively tight space. There are a few downsides to this - very short holes, and unfortunately 13 of the 18 holes are played next to a road, often alongside the fairway. On one hole there was a lay-by used as a car park right on the edge of the fairway! Many holes also cross over each other, and there are virtually no signposts between the holes, turning the round into a bit of an orienteering exercise just to find the next hole! As it seems to be a public area there are also lots of walkers to avoid - on one hole we had to avoid an amateur treasure hunter who was using a metal detector and shovel to dig holes in the fairway!!
Public picnic
Nice course, true fast greens. Not much need for a driver for a longer hitter.
I enjoyed the course, some unavoidable downfalls like lack of rain. Best part was the Greens they were great, best I've played this year. Worst part was people walking all over the course and sitting sunbathing at the edge of holes. Some more privacy and some extra yardage and the course would have good potential. Wouldn't pay more that the £25 I did!
First Class!
Not a lot to say other than I enjoyed my round so much I'm thinking of joining. Course in great condition,. Friendly members. Only downside was putting on the 18th and knowing that the round was over!!
awesome short course
good short course and has some challenges. Nice views.
Great course with challenging greens
Great course. Well maintained and quick greens. A short course but target golf is required. I will be playing this course again very soon. Friendly staff and a gem in Surrey! Highly recommend!
Played 14 times since 19th June
A very challenging course with a number of greens with slopes making it difficult to have an approach shot stop where you want it to. Fairways and greens extremely well kept. An excellent variety of length, lateral slopes, trees and angles. The only thing that nature bothered me was the wind against the driver on the 5th fairway.
Unfortunately I'm travelling so won't be able to play it again until next May. I shall really miss it.
