First Time Playing

Worst Course I’ve Ever Played

Played Boughton hundreds of times but thought I’d venture to Etchinghill for a change. Always open minded before playing and paid the £30ish fees as is the going rate.

The first issue appeared on the long line waiting to tee off, we were the third group waiting with one other behind, going off a comfortable 25 mins late on our tee time.

We were inevitably stuck behind a competition (why they’re holding it at peak time on a Saturday I’m unsure) who lost several holes on the group in front, insisted on playing slowly despite them all having a handicap in triple figures.

No course marshal anywhere to be seen to keep play moving (at Boughton they can’t afford one because they pay Kerry Katona too much to appear every so often) but unsure why Etchinghill can’t afford one; I can’t see Kerry Katona anywhere.

Regardless of the slow play, it became very apparent that the course designer either got bored or only had a few templates because it’s the dullest course ive ever seen, with all the holes the same layout. Any danger of a dog leg?

We played 7 holes in 2hrs15 and called the time of death, as the group behind was about to. The bar was full of similarly disgruntled players who all wanted to drink so much they forgot this awful experience.

The greens had seen better days, fairways ok but not spectacular, and ears are ringing from everyone shouting Fore whilst we played.

Avoid at all costs, go get better value elsewhere.
