Love Falconhead, need to monitor pace and groupings
The course was in excellent shape and love this course. My only complaint is we never saw the Marshall and they allowed two 5somes off in from of us and we were a twosome. First, there shouldn't be 5somes and we need pace of place to speed up with some support from a Marshall and there was none to be see the entire 18. Regardless love the course, excellent shape and we had drink cart coming around throughout which is always a bonus!....
Pace of play on a Tiesday
Left after 13 as I was already at 4 hrs. Falconhead needs to get it together. Terrible pace as always. I will not be back.
Great experience
Starter invited me to join a senior group skins game. Made for a fun round and won a few bucks. Course is a very good layout and although challenging it is very playable!
Very nice course
Very nice and challenging course. Greens and fairways in good condition. Driving range and putting green both shut down for maintenance with no warning for non-members. I would suggest not shutting down all the practice and warm up facilities at the same time!
Probably not a good time to play there
Course has many issues. Huge turf issues, many greens had damage and not very consistent. Range closed till 10:30 on Tuesdays. Yes their were many trees damaged from storm but understand that happens. They we’re putting a lot of effort to get them cleaned out. Course was not liked I remember from last time I played looked very unattended and tired on front side. For the most part their are too many other choices to play so sadly I will pass on playing there until they turn it around. Nice staff although. Lastly the carts are very tiered and old
Good layout, bad shape
Course layout and views are phenomenal. It’s a shame to see it in this kind of shape. Impossible to find grass on at least 50% of tee boxes. There was a freeze over a month ago that they blame for large branches and limbs down all over the course. Come on, get it cleaned up within 30-45 days at least if you’re going to charge $125/round.
Fairways are burnt out (forgivable with the lack of rain), and most greens rolled ok but were riddled with Poa annua. Pace of play sign on the cart read 4 hours total but it took us 4:45 and we were waiting on just about every tee box. Not even close to worth what they’re charging. Unsure if it’s new ownership or what, but the place has a ton of potential and it’s sad to see it like this. PLEASE put some of the money you’re raking in back into the course. At least clear the freeze damage one of these days and figure something out with the unplayable tee boxes.
Missing golfer
So it happens that one of our foursome was unable to make it because of family issues. So we had 3 out of 4. And yet I’m getting charged for that one spot that wasn’t filled. There is no way they could’ve filled it at the time of finding out. I believe it is super asinine that I’m being charged for that. Golf Now and Falconhead will never be recommended by me. It’s just plain ridiculous
Not Worth What They Charge
I paid around $120 to play this course based on the pictures. Granted, it was early season conditions, but a recent windstorm had laid waste to the trees on the course and they had hardly cleaned any of it up. A total mess, and affected play. Also, they had a few groups playing some mini tournament together, and long story short, the round took over 5 hours. Very frustrating to spend this kind of money to receive a subpar experience. Not a place I'll be returning to...
Beware Pace of Play
1:12 tee time. Didn't tee off until around 1:30. Finished at 6:30. Yes it was a Saturday afternoon but still miserable pace of play.
Pace of play is a joke
1.46 tee time and didn’t tee off until just after 2pm. 5:07 round of golf. Course Marshall’s no where to be found.
Don’t put a pace of play timesheet in the cart if you aren’t going to have a Marshall out managing pace of play and actually expect people to follow it. Waiting on every single tee/approach.
As a last issue - the starter was incredibly useless and not very friendly.
Hi, Stevehong8. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Falconhead Golf Club.
We’ll be back
The course had a lot of freeze damage they were piling up so stay straight! Back nine was cart path only which made it a hike. I felt they should have knocked some off for that
Late February Round - Course in Poor Shape
Played in late February so take this with a grain of salt but the course was in very rough shape. Fairways and greens in particular. Given the price I expected a better track.
Most everything I play is out west of Austin. Try crystal falls, riverside or Delaware Springs in Burnet. Their okay for a hill country experience. I’m a club member so I’m spoiled a bit because our courses are in very good shape at Horseshoe Bay. Just like to venture out sometimes.
Hi...I'm coming in town to play in a few weeks. What other public courses would you recommend?
