Average experience
This course was very standard/predictable and extremely easy for someone of my ability (handicap 24, shot 16 over). The course itself was extremely dry with many of the holes bunched up together (back to back par 3s at one point). As a result it was a very slow round for a short course. What particularly annoyed me during my round were the green keepers who failed to turn off their engines and watched me play at least 3 holes Landscape, views and overall feel was average, greens were good.
What a day
Got my first hole in one on hole 5, so it would be wrong of me to give anything less than a 5* review
Not a massive course but a good size to play for £20.00 , greens were mostly good condition, would play again.
Great little course but not trolley friendly
I had a blast at Ferndown Forest Golf Club! The course was in great shape and offered a good amount of challenge. The narrow fairways definitely kept things interesting. The only thing I found frustrating was the no-trolley zone near the greens. Made it a bit of a hassle when I had to grab an Uber to change clubs haha. But all in all, still had a really good time on the course and will absolutely be back, albeit with a stand bag next time!
Great time
Had a really nice early evening round, with great weather on a lovely course. Great value
Huge Improvement Since Last Time
Okay.....so last time was probably 10 years ago and the course was in such poor condition that we thought it unlikely we'd play there again.
However; money has clearly been spent and the course has been much improved. A good variety of holes, making it quite challenging. Greens were in great condition and consistent. The pro-shop area is very good and there is an excellent driving range available.
There's a great bar/cafe, which seems hugely popular with both members and visitors.
So overall, it was great value for money and we'll be happy to return again!
Although the weather hasn't been great the course was in a shocking way.
Spend too much on the off course amenities instead of taking care of the course.
Value
Course is ideal for us as an after work local course, only thing I think is when it’s getting later 6.30 plus tee times really should be cheaper as you probably won’t get all holes in especially if it’s busy , but that’s the same for all courses
Course and staff were great. The only problem I had was after getting back to my car to find that some kind person had scratched the drivers and rear passenger doors with their car. Went to golf shop but they didn't know about it ( not reported ). Went to on site pub to check out monitors but nothing to see and again not reported. So to that person, :-((( ***
First time
Had a great afternoon out, took a few holes to understand course layout and it was a slow start. Will definitely be going again.
Perfect course to brush up your short game
Really impressed with this short 18 hole course.
Lots of interesting holes and really well thought out. If you want to sharpen up your short game and Iron play it’s just ideal. Fantastic team behind this and great facilities for all to enjoy. Pleasantly surprised!
Pleasant day of golf full of decent people
Got to Forrest course early so hit some balls with auto tee up machine well I'm sold already other than guy behind me singing to Marilyn Manson on his headphones sounded demon person whispering lol back to golf is good test of ya skills tho not as big as many other courses or with much slope index but still enjoyable I usually use a golf cart but could easily walk without being in too much pain only negative for me is barriers for no trolleys and carts which I understand which helps maintain the good course just annoying gettin back in cart on some tight paths to get on without slowing up play and that's coming from me who's impatient who hates waiting on slower players which here there wasn't many and ladies that let us through were lovely and loved to hunt for some balls lol and left some clubs behind which we've all done at some point asked group in front bit wasn't there's and they thanked me for asking which is nice cos most course are full of gents and here there's many they told me there's couple lads in front but they left and as I finished I approached some lads and they were so polite and shocked I found them nice note to finish on my golf wasn't great but better than last time soo I'd like to come back and improve on my score once more and maybe chill at pub and get food which looks great and maybe spend some money pro shop as many pre owned clubs are reasonably priced and they offer reshafting of clubs which I do need which not many places do.
Disappointingly slow
Course layout was as expected and suffering badly from the current weather conditions. This was to be expected so no complaints there. The pace of play was far from acceptable though as the short nature of the course clearly attracts all the beginners and poor golfers from miles around. Whilst I fully accept their entitlement to play, this slow play, together with a lack of any marshalling, means that there is no chance of me returning. The club appears to be thriving so most of the club's player base are probably happy with the way things are.
