Okay round of golf.
Quite a forgettable course, but in decent condition, especially given the time of year. Members were not the most welcoming, and didn't let us play through, so we had to skip a whole to get ahead, so will not go back.
Very Good Value
First time playing the course, I was impressed with the layout and condition. Off course amenities were excellent, and very friendly staff. Overall excellent value on the Hot Deal price.
Not as good as expected.
Might be championship standard by length but that is about all. Not many obstacles to be avoided, no bunkers at the front of any green. Sand in most of the bunkers had been compressed by recent rain but no attempt to fluff them up at all. Couldn't play these bunkers as bunkers should be played - only way was to use a lob wedge and try to pick the ball off of the hard sand. Should have all been GUR. My playing partner and myself did not agree with the 131 slope rating - 120 at the most. We were not charged due to the hollow tining being carried out
Great golf course
Beautiful course that is well looked after. Looking forward to returning!
Not up to usual standard
Arrived at 10.50.am far an 11:30 booking to be greeted with a medium sized society (24 - 6 four balls) getting ready to go out.
Was told by the pro shop that they were not dealing with Golf Now so were surprised at the booking. There would be a delay owing to the society of about 20 minutes.. This turned out to be over half an hour because a group was also waiting on the first tee behind the society having played back nine first.
Unfortunately my group of three had to stop early after 15 holes owing to poor light with an expected 3/4 hour still required to complete the round.
So the day proved to be disappointing.
Great greens
Very friendly welcome from the pro shop staff when we got there. Course was in good condition with many holes being on a slope it was a good test of golf, especially the greens which were smooth and quick so putting was definitely a challenge.
Forest Hills - August 17th 2019
Great day again at Forest Hills. Pace of play was a little slow but this was because we were behind a large Society. Not an issue as the weather was great and we only stopped on the last few holes.
Course was presented in excellent condition and greens, fairways and tee boxes immaculate as always.
Forest of Dean gem
Second time playing this course and the positive impression left after the first round remains intact. From the friendly pro shop welcome (and resolution of a missing booking) right the way through to the final green this was an outstanding golf experience. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Some long par 4 holes and tricky contours make things interesting. If it wasn't a 2.5 hour drive from home I am sure that this would be a regular venue. Highly recommended.
relaxing golf day
I’ve played this course many times before, it’s a lovely course not to difficult but still has challenging holes, very peaceful never crowded and greens always seem in good condition, great value for money
Good condition course for time of the year and great value round for the 4 us
Easy to get a team time, fairly quiet and good pace of play. The course was in good condition forvthevtime of year with all greens in play and evenly paced. A few of the temporary tees were not flat and the grass too long and a number of the bunkers were in reconstruction so playing GUR. Overall a good course, appears open in all conditions and, excellent value for money.
Decent track
Enjoyable course...was very busy' maybe too many crammed on so waiting on every shot. Would play again when weather is better
Nice course
Played Foest Hills today. It was my first time here. We had a very pleasant welcome in the club shop and went out onto the course as booked. Very nice course. Lots of different holes and the greens were very slick. We ventured into the 19th afterwards and once again everyone was most pleasant. Will definitely play this course again. Very good value.
Great course, hilly but not too Ridiculous
First time playing here with my 68 year old father when every other course around is either half shut or not open at all due to recent wet weather. Worries that we wouldnt be allowed trolleys but amazinly only buggies were banned! Greens - pin placement the day i played was very hard, lots cut on the front edge or the hardest point on the Greeen with the most angles - maybe it was a competion time recently. They were bobbly but run fast for wet greens, can image they are pretty slick when summertime comes around. The course is hilly, but with only three really steep bits, the rest is more than manageable. Would recommend.
Despite the recent rain, course played well.
Well it's the end of January, it's been a week of wet weather and still you can rely on Forest Hills to be playable and to allow you to use trolleys.
We were stuck behind quite a slow 4-ball which meant waiting on most tees. On arrival at the 10th tee they'd only just walked off it but no offer to let us play through!!! We could have finished a good 20 minutes earlier had they had the courtesy to let quicker groups through.
great value for money
Paid £15 for the round which is great value for money. Greens were good ran true and fast. Lots of hills to get over but added to a great days golf.
