Forest of Galtres Golf Club

All 18 holes were on temporary greens. To be fair the staff offered to move the booking but we decided to go ahead anyway which was our decision. I wouldn't make the same decision again as the temporary greens were virtually impossible to putt on. It is a nice long course and I wouldn't hesitate to play there again. Couldn't fault the staff and the facilities are nice

I think this course is under rated, course is well laid out and well looked after. Pace of play is great compared to many courses in the area.

Great golf today,fairways and greens in great condition’s sun in the sky and great value for money. Cheers

Course layouts was quite good
Looks like a farmers fuels conversion in parts
Bunkers are very poor ( only went in one but playing partners were regular visitors )- they were great in colour for most part

Greens were true and in good order

Catering / bar was good

The course layout was pretty good and pace of play. Course amenities were good and putting green pace mid to fast.
We found the course was dry and firm. Greens required some additional watering. Greens ran true when putting. A quite tight course in areas with a lot of out of bounds.
The holes we enjoyed : 6th, 10th , 15th and 17th.
Well worth a round

Fairly good course.found it to be pretty easy going even with the heavy wind..it is a nice course but I personally prefer a bit more of a challenge it’s flat and most of the holes are straight.was in good condition pretty firm quite good greens just not really my type of course but would recommend to other people staff were pleasant and helpful

Pleasant well maintained course. Lots of bunkers and some water. Enjoyed it and its a long course but maybe a bit samey ...but others around york have greater appeal and are a but more interesting

Played the other day here. Good course, well worth the money. Greens are generally elevated and were rock hard which made stopping the ball on them very difficult. The course is open and this means it is windy which makes long par 5s Into the wind difficult. Big plusses is the condition of the course which was excellent. I will be back!

Excellent course in very good order. Greens particularly in super condition.

Lovely open parkland course with a links feel. Greens in excellent condition despite the lack of rain. Only complaint is that there was not enough sand in the bunkers. I know because I felt the need to play out of them far too often!!!

First time playing here and really enjoyed it.. well placed trees and bunkers to make it slightly difficult but still nice and open through the middle.

Great value for money. Greens are well kept and the fairways well cut. A flat course with some trees to contend with. Can’t fault this course

Having played here a couple of times over winter when the course suffered badly due to the wet this was our first time back here in the dry. It just happened to be the hottest day of the year which was a test for all of us. Playing as part of a fourball who all like to play at a decent pace we tee’d off on time with nobody in front of us. The tee boxes are all in reasonable condition. Greens as well.
If we do have a gripe then it was probably that the bunkers are quite bad in places. It’s hard sand and there were stones in the same bunkers where this hard sand was. There were a few bunkers which was soft sand and they were great. It’s such a shame that all bunkers aren’t the same grade sand. Trying to play out of the harder sanded ones was quite impossible.
All in all we had a good round and only saw a few other groups during our 18 holes. I would recommend Forest of Galtres for an enjoyable round.
