Eighteen at Riverside Municipal Golf Course
About
Riverside Municipal Golf Course conveniently sits just four miles south of downtown and offers not only an 18-hole course but also a nine-hole, par-3 course. Riverside Municipal G.C., which dates back to the 1930s, was designed to offer spectacular views of the San Antonio skyline. As its name implies, the San Antonio River runs alongside many of the holes at Riverside. Nearly all of the lies are uneven but the golf course is still easy to walk. The layout's front nine is covered with towering pecan trees that require straight, accurate drives but the back nine has more opportunities to grip it and rip it. Water naturally comes into play throughout Riverside Municipal Golf Course, most prominently on the back nine.

Great Muni in San Antonio
Riverside is part of the Alamo City Golf Trail. Great municipal course. I’ve played 3 now, (Old Brack, Riverside, Willow Springs) would rate in that order as well. Fairly wide, but a few big oaks can definitely get you off the tee from time to time. Layout had a variety of doglegs with a good mixture of holes. Greens were very good, not overly quick but perfect for a casual round. Flat for walkers, I walked. The walk from 10 to 11 and back from 17 to 18 is a little long. Benches would be a nice addition for waits on tee boxes, there were none. Played in 4:00 exactly, but did get behind a few groups that caused a wait on each tee box. Tee boxes are slightly uneven in spots but are quite large so finding a good spot isn’t a problem. Everything was cut and trimmed, bunkers were raked and looked good. No driving range, but there was a putting green to hit a few before playing. Overall, a place to definitely enjoy a walk and to play in San Antonio.
Riverside GC
Golf has a renovation project going on, but still playable.
Top 3 Muni in SA
IMHO this course is one of the top three municipal golf courses in San Antonio. I rank it 3rd after Brackenridge and Cedar Creek. Between Brackenridge and this, I would probably pick Riverside because it's much more affordable. My absolute favorite thing about this course is that I got to play all 18 holes with the same ball, something that is extremely rare in San Antonio courses. The greens are not extremely challenging but they're in great shape and ball rolls pretty nice. The fairways and tee boxes are in excellent condition as well. I will definitely come back here. This will be in my rotation of golf course around San Antonio.
City course
For a city course, it was in great shape. Having never played the course before, you were able to determine where to land your ball and not get into trouble because of blind shots. There were some water hazards and sand traps but with a good shot, they weren't in play too often. Pace of play was great being a twosome but then caught up with the groups in front and slowed down considerably. For the price paid, it was a great deal. Would play it again if in the area. Also liked not having to tip cart kids, could take the cart into the parking lot.
Ed
Had a good experience greens were in good shape clubhouse staff was helpful the pace was a little slow had a Twosome in front of our foursome dropping 2 balls and keeping the pace slow we waited on them every hole !! , at one time we hit into them the guy hit our ball back off the green !!!
Course in great shape
Riverside golf course is in great shape right now. The fairways are good and the greens are really good. They roll true. You should play this course.
rain, rain, rain
Rained the 1st 14 holes, in fact we were the only dummies out there so we move at a pretty good pace. The course stood up pretty well, no mud balls and the greens were as good as I've seen them at this course, the ball rolled better than expected. In spite of this being a city course and the poor weather that we experiencedn, we where happy with the round. It was a good value.
Day of golf with the wife
This was a day we figured many would go and get in a round of golf ... and we were correct. This course help the groups play at normal pace and made for an outstanding day at the links. Even with some spring changes going on the course play gret
A quality municipal golf course
A quality municipal golf course with decent greens. Lots of doglegs, and a great back nine! We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Riverside.
Four sets of tees for golfers of all abilities.
Good course for the price point
The course was in decent shape for a municipal. The entire course was dried out by the sun but all the tees and fairways had grass. The most attention needed at this course would be the greens. Overall, a good value for my money.
very nice golf course
This course will be great in a few weeks. They are working very hard to make it great.
greens terrible,cartpath as well
as i stated greens terrible as well as cartpath it was either broken up or not there at all
Bad Front but good Back
The front nine on this course is bad....not well cared for. The Back nine is much newer and in much better condition.
SA Municipal course...could be much better.
Moderate Municipal Course
Course is dated and could use a refreshing, cart paths really bad. Interesting and fun layout, The greens were in great shape for this time of year. No martial and after the 6th hole we got behind a slow group. Lots of interesting Oak and Pecan trees on the course.
morning tournaments
Golf trail should allow more available weekend morning tee times to golfers and start tournaments at a later time.
Talk about relaxing...
Started at around 7am and it was a very relaxing round of golf. Great pace, great weather, and the course was in good condition so no complaints here. Get out there and hit them long and straight at Riverside!
Nice course
The course is in great shape, staff very friendly, and the fairways are nice and wide. Great place to play.
