Very poor greens
Nearly all greens are dry, and patchy. Course used to be very good, but now is a mess. Clubhouse closed.
Frodshambles
The fairways were immaculate but the Greens were horrific - like putting on a cart path in some areas and in the rough in others,
No pro shop or club facilities .
Nice track
Love playing this course friendly and not too difficult
Lots of interesting holes quite challenging but not too long
What’s happened
I’ve played this course at least once a month this yeast and I’ve never seen the greens (or browns) so bad. It’s like they haven’t been watered all summer.
Play this weekly and I can’t get enough.
Friendly staff and a great course to play. Yes some work needs doing but they are working hard to get the course to scratch.
Definitely value for money and some new stuff in the pipe line.
Excellent layout.
Stunning course with great variety of holes to test your golf. Unfortunately the greens are in an awful condition and putting is a guess. Still worth a visit if make this allowance. Would still play again soon.
Terrible Greens
The course and layout is stunning but this place is not being managed well, the greens are horrendous and they need to close for the winter to sort them out, they were bad last year and now even worse, last year was £12 and this year was £20 on worse conditions
Good day
We got the rain ,course played well, really enjoyed it,great value.
Nice course very friendly
Have played here on many occasions very friendly club and great for golfers starting out or getting back into golf
Challenging holes not too far but many interesting holes and nice views
Don’t bother
Very very poor course. Litter everywhere, tee boxes a joke and the green well let’s not talk about those as they are absolutely horrible. Can’t believe there was so many members there. Much better clubs in nearby Runcorn helsby ect. Save you’re money and don’t bother.
Greens and Tee boxes
Absolutely scandalous that the below paragraph is written in the preview for this course.
If we had of known that the greens and tee boxes were do poor we wouldn't of booked.
1 half decent green out of 18 the rest where uncut, bare and bumpy. Just made a mockery out of the rest of the course.
Not worth £5 let alone £20. Would of complained when we came off but at 14:30 the booth was locked up and no one was there.
"The greens at Frodsham Golf Club are a main feature. They are small targets to find but will provide the golfer with every opportunity to hole putts on these pristine surfaces"
AVOID
This is without doubt the worst golf course I’ve ever played.
Played just after golf reopened and was expecting it to be bad, but in fairness it was “ok” the greens where poor but just put that done to the green keepers maybe being on furlough.
It’s actually now in a terrible state, even municipal golf courses have better greens and better fringes around the green. There’s weeds grown on and around the greens, positions where you would normally be able to putt from, you have to use a wedge or a 9 iron or your ball will not move.
It looks like all their money has gone on trying to build a new club shop & club house, I’d be shocked if they actually had a green keeper on site. It’s cheap and you will never struggle to get a tee time here and there’s a very good reason for the latter.
The club “shop” is now an old shipping container that sells Mars bars and gives scorecards out. No balls, tees, nothing.
If this was the only golf course available to me I’d give it up. Save your money and your time is my best advice.
Shambles
Stay away at all cost absolutely embarrassing course. The greens are a disgrace. Was of time and money. It’s only got 1 star because you literally can’t give it non joke of a place shouldn’t be open
Unplayable and poor greens.
No clubhouse, greens were very uneven in pace due to them not being looked after at all. No flag on hole 2. Overall very poor and for £20 I'm fuming!
A lot of potential
Played this course today after reading a mixed bag of reviews, have to say layout of the course is great fairways are ylin great condition, greens do need some work really, tee off areas are ok no bins to throw damaged tees away so they seem to get left on the ground.
A lot of potential in this course and overall pretty good just needs that little bit of work doing with the greens but I'm sure this will come with a bit of time.
Got caught behind a very slow group who were erratic in there shots but spent more time talking on the tees.
Will probably play again in the future to see if any work has been done on the greens as this was the only thing that let it down.
Loved it!
Played again today, after last Wednesday - must say, playing early morning is such a treat (and for buttons!) - the course is so good, other than the greens starting to ‘burn up’ a smidge but the rain we’ve just had will work wonders. Can’t wait to get back and play again. See you next week!
Great day,enjoyed it,really friendly people,playing again today,great value.
Great value, great views, back again today, good test for golfers, try it,you wont be disappointed.
Hot Day
Pleasure playing this course great days golf and views even a few birdies thanks
Poorly maintained
The greens are unplayable and the bunkers are shocking. Such a shame as this used to be a great draining course with top quality greens and great fairways,
Has potential
The course could potentially be exceptional, lovely views of the Dee estuary. Facilities haven’t had chance to be reopened because of the pandemic but will be a great golf day out once the Club house is fully open again.
