Worth a visit
Some great holes, loads of variation. You'll use every club in your bag, great walk too as scenery is great.
It's good for all standards, as fairly wide fairways but for the better players there's challenge there too.
Down side - boggy in patches, bunkers out of play (when i played in feb) but doesn't takeaway from the experience. Does need investment but for the money it's excellent.
Course has so much potential
Reception/front of house staff, disappointingly one of the staff members is far from welcoming abrupt and unfriendly. She would definitely benefit from a customer service course, (sadly I believe she was the manager). The other staff member was the complete opposite. Having played at Gatton a few times the potential is there to see, this could be an amazing course. However sadly appears somewhat neglected, the bare minimum is obviously carried out by the green staff just to keep the course in a playable condition. (5/10)
A beautiful but challenging course
Although not long, the course is very challenging and was in beautiful condition. We played at 2 p.m. and only saw 3 other golfers on the course. For the money (excellent value), this is one of the best courses I have played. Just a shame that the bar was closed when we finished at 6.15 p.m.
Really Enjoyable Round
A lovely course and a really enjoyable round. Helped probably by not losing a single ball until into the final third of the round despite the numerous water hazards around to play over. Found the course very fair with no ridiculously penal rough like you encounter on some courses
Pleasant challenging course
We played on a quiet day and the course was in perfect condition. A lot of undergrowth has been cleared which aids finding the wayward shot. The main clubhouse/hotel is undergoing renovation meaning there are limited facilities and the pro shop closes about 5 so there were no refreshments available when we finished although the changing room was open.
1st time playing this course and it had no maps on the card no maps on the tee box so didn't know what way some of the holes was and the greens was not in good shape
Great course
Lovely place friendly staff. Great layout of golf course. Well kept. Greens could be a bit quicker. Will def come back
Nice Parkland course
Had a very nice round on a picturesque course. Fairways were in good condition and the layout of the course was challenging but fair. Weather was excellent which made for a nice day. Staff were friendly there, and we would have stayed for a drink after but chose to visit pubs instead (for keg beer). Would be happy to play this course again and had a good experience there overall. We hope to return.
Hidden Gem
The course always plays well, a good mix of holes for all players and beautiful scenery all through this course.
Potentially a good course but……
I played Gatton Manor a few years back in appalling conditions and thought it would be good to play again sometime in hopefully better weather.
Whilst it was sunny on the day there had been a lot of rain leading up to the day and as such they weren’t able to cut the rough as it was too boggy. Unfortunately they also made all the fairways narrow which meant a lot of time was spent looking for balls and many lost balls
Still think it could be a great course to play but it is too tough in this state for the social golfers that myself and my group and we won’t be playing again there any time soon.
The main bar area is also closed for renovations but the little shop they had was good enough and the sausage roll was great.
The course as whole wasn’t that bad considering how much rain we’ve had in recent weeks, But thhe greens were in great condition and challenging. Overall a testing game of golf.
Wet. Long. But beautiful
This course will be great to play in the summer. Great design on a few holes. It’s a very long course and we played in bad conditions. A couple of holes were verging on unplayable. A few greens were flooded. I’d recommend avoiding in bad conditions. But we will be back.
No good in winter
I can see this would be a lovely course in the summer. Some great looking holes and challenging. Absolute mud bath in the winter though and unplayable. Avoid it in wet conditions.
Highly recommend
Really nice golf course, lots of interesting holes. Will definitely be playing again.
Great course
Great course, friendly staff and members really chatty. Clubhouse is due to be refurbished so it's closed at the moment. Still able to get drinks and a warm sausage roll.
Played here for the first time on the 20th January. Agree with your comments about the club. The greens were awful, and in general the course and facilities did not seem looked after at all. Needs some investment and love. Shame because it’s a good layout with some interesting holes
