Super course in top condition!
Every thing was perfect - the weather, staff, food, course, and especially the greens. A challenging layout on the banks of the Brazos river. Deer roaming through out the course was an extra treat of the nature and beauty seen while playing.
In a word MAGNIFICANT!
Golf f
They have two holes that are not fully open yet, hole # 10 and # 18 , they turn them into par 3 for now.
Good value
I always like the peaceful and beautiful surroundings of this course. The greens had just been punched, but still rolling good.
This is a very peaceful fun course
I played here often everything is great about this course. Very peaceful never any huge crowds. Deer are prancing around you couldnt ask for a more peaceful experience.
Good Course
Nice course, staff friendly, we got rained out, but overall we enjoyed our round.
Great Course just outside of Katy
First time playing the course. Played on an early Saturday morning, but pace was great. This is an amazing scenic course near the Brazos River. Very quiet course with not a single house in sight. The layout is unique and fun.
Goat Ranch!
The course was terrible! Tore up tee boxes, greens with dead areas, just needs to be closed!
Good value close to houston
Beautiful course very reachable for houston residents, never a long wait for next t box. Great wildlife to view. Clubhouse facilities outstanding. We are considering membership.
Short with trouble lurking.
Old style coursers nice, but 12th hole makeover is ridiculous.
Course is in good shape, not very long.
The price without golf now would be to high, greens were fast, smooth and consistant.
To pay the full price would be a little high. The course was well maintained and fun to play. The pace of play was excellant. The greens were better than most courses I have played this year. The only draw back was the length, to short.
It's great fun to play this course.
Short-ish course (6,000 yds from the tips) that requires players to think and strategize. Not a course for "bombers", with doglegs on every non-par-3 hole and very small greens.
Part of Stephen F. Austin State Park, the course is picturesque and deer can be seen darting about.
Great green condotion
It's awsome green and well maintained fairway.
I've been played 6 times at this course and this is my best time to play.
This course is in great shape.
Great course for the price, the greens are in excellent shape.
Beautiful course.
This a beautiful course, well maintained. Line with bid pecans and d oaks, and the wild life what else can I say. The front 9 was not too difficult and the back 9 was pretty tuff. 18 ate me for lunch, but the temperature was about 96 degree with 80 percent humidity. Any day any time playing golf is worth it.
Very nice course
The staff was very friendly and appreciative for me playing there course.
The course is in the woods where there is no sirens and vehicle noise. It was very peaceful.
I will be back.
It's a public park course
Has a lot of trees, and wildlife, so that made for an enjoyable round.
If you have expectations that this course is more than a muni, you will be disappointed. I read the other reviews, and expected it to be a real treat, and it is just a average golf course.
When I played the fairways and greens were very hard, because of lack of rain, so I expect it would be in better condition with some rain.
They had several groups (locals) playing fivesomes or more, so it was a bit slower than I expected, but doubt that is common.
Overall, just an OK course. Don't think I would make the drive out to play it again.
greens
a local told me that the greens weren't normally like this, but the day I played they were so fast and hard it made it very difficult to make a putt.
What a hidden gem!
I should not be writing this as it should be kept a secret. For a public course it is fantastic. The course is in very good condition and although the fairways are narrow and lined with trees the area under the trees is well maintained so the errant tee shot can be easily found with a way back out onto the fairway. Leave the driver at home - an accurate 3 wood will suffice as the holes are not particularly long. Staff are very friendly and the pro shop appears well stocked. Anyone wanting food after 9 holes should ask them to bring it out onto the course. This is one area that is slow and could do with improving. It is well worth the drive to find the course, I will definately return.
good layout
The course was in fair condition greens had just been aireated so they didn't roll great but I enjoyed the round and would recomend playing
Rains helped out
Saturday was the best I can remember seeing the course. The last rains sure helped the fairways and the trees out quite a bit. The greens were not as good as they have been in the past. Very bumpy and slower than usual. However, I still have a hard time paying $50 dollars to play here. All in all this is a neat and challenging course.
