Careful when you play.
Hard to fault the course, but I played on a sunny, lovely Saturday afternoon - teed off a bit before 3:00 pm and the pace was really bad - took close to five hours to get around, and by the time I hit the clubhouse at 7:40, couldn't even grab a pint because the clubhouse was closed down for a private party. Maybe a cloudy Sunday would have been better....
Good Condition for winter
I have been playing here for many years - course is great for winter - generally good draining, no temp. greens or tees. Greens in really good condition for this time of year.
They are doing some renovation work on the course at present, so a number of bunkers are OOB, but other than a good test of golf and the rough forgiving this time of year.
Always good to see the deer around the course.
Great test
It’s refreshing to have a course where you don’t take a driver on every par 4. A great test which requires you to think and plan your way round.
The pace was slow for most of the morning but we were in no rush.
Greens were fast, bunkers deep.
We’ll be back
Solo playing
Got stuck behind slow 2 ball but aside from that nice open course. Could do with more trees or water hazards
needs a lot of work
tired course. poor condition. busy/slow play. and too expensive.
Good course. Some green work going on
For course with no water (that I can recall at least) some green work going on, which we weren’t aware of. Good round with the other greens in impeccable conditions!
Fairways have got new grass growing, so give it another two months and this course should be impeccable all round.
Friendly staff and steady pace, not too slow. We were a two ball and I spend my time well reading the greens.
Course very dry
Can see that this could be a great course, however the fairways were very dry / burnt out. Felt like playing off soil, very patchy burn our grass on the fairways.Tee boxes and greens are watered. Shame as potential is there, needs a lot of water!
HAmpton court
Excellent value for money.
Considerinng amount the course Is played on a daily basis it is in good condition.
Def recommend
Great course, but not an easy track...
Hampton Court Palace is a classy in-land links golf course overlooked by the the palace; my home course (Lymm GC) runs parralel to the River Mersey so a pleasant and very picturesque change.
The layout of Hampton however is not for the faint hearted with big indulations, whispy-links tough ans some holes which are penned in by large oak trees. Some of the holes are superb, and it’s a very fun course to play, albeit for the better players.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5* is simply because I found it too hard and unforgiving. For context st my home course I can spray it 80 yards left or right off any tee and simply play from another fairway, wedge it on the green and take a par and a small ego brush. You won’t do that on Hampton.
I was shooting mid-high 70s gross at my home course Lymm but has to dig really deep for a 94 gross round Hampton.
I hope one day game will be up to the beautiful challenge that is Hampton, but for now, I need an easy Parkland course in my life.
Nice Course to Play
A perfect Golf day, a nice place to be (Nature & Park Land, Hapton Castle...), very kind & friendly staff, good & friendly Course, the back 9 with a better Look & feel (a little bit like a links course)...
Great Course
Great course have placed twice and felt like a different course each time due to weather conditions. Course in great condition and in a great setting.
A picturesque course, well maintained. Excellent value for money, a challenging course for a beginner like me but thoroughly enjoyable!
