9 hole golf course which can be played as 18. Three of the holes on the back 9 have different tee boxes. The greens were in good condition (June 2020) - receptive and rolled well.
There are quite a few blind shots to fairways and greens which is not something I’m fond of. Signage around the course could do with being improved for hole locations etc. A map of the hole layout on the score card would be useful for visitors not knowing the course. Okay overall. Would play agin but in no immediate rush to return.
Excellent course was in brilliant condition considering time of year. The only problem was we played on a Wednesday morning and got stuck quite a lot on the back nine behind a large visiting party. Would definitely play again but I would avoid Wednesday morning. Friendly pro who made us feel very welcome, recommend to anyone excellent golf course.
Second visit to this course, 2 different tees are used on the second 9. Making a reachable par 5 into a hard 440 yard par 4 & extending the last hole to 590 yard. This course is well worth a visit.
This course has a variety of holes, to test your skill!
A 247 yard par 3 over a ravine or an easier longer route. A monster par 5 to finish. It was in very good condition, and did not have any duplicate holes. We will play this course again.
Don't go on Monday
We are visitors to this area and did not realise that this was a 2x 9 hole course when we booked. There was some confusion over which tee to use for each 9, especially the ladies tees and should men play off the white tees as this was the yardage on the card.? The pro hadn't told us anything. Could do with more signs. We met some friendly members on the course who helped us out.
Our tee time was 9.38 on a Monday and the clubhouse was deserted apart from a lady who had come to pick her husband up- she was very helpful and pointed us to the coffee machine. Apparently the clubhouse doesn't open on a Monday. The pro arrived at 9.30 and didn't know about our booking but no problems. Absolutely no body about when we came in and I couldn't even get in to the toilet as nobody had bothered to give us the code - good job we hadn't left anything in the locker room..
However, the course was in good condition and a lovely little gem with good views.
Little 9 hole gem!
Set on the hills above Dewsbury, Hanging Heaton is a well kept secret. Both fairways and greens in very good condition. Wednesday is seniors day so either get off by 9.30am or try another day as they average about 60 members all setting off on 2 tee's. Plenty of challenging holes with 9th & 18th especially long.
Definitely worth the money and would visit again.
