great links course
Cold , windy day - winter.
2 holes closed due to waterlogging.
16 holes were in great condition, tees, fairways, bunkers and greens excellent for late November.
I love this course. The condition is perfect from the clean, flat and quirky tee boxes to pristine greens. It has everything. The holes are tricky enough to really get you thinking about your shots but weirdly forgiving, more often than you’d expect, looking at the rough.
The location right next to the sea makes for some pleasing views.
The practice green is mint and the club house is good too.
As soon as my circumstances permit, I will be enquiring about a full membership.
Hartlepool Golf course
My husband and played I this course for the 1st time…thoroughly enjoyed it. Challenging unsighted greens on a few holes. Greens were deadly fast but enjoyable👍🏾.I Met a few members on the golf course who were super helpful with directions and welcomed us to join the Club.
Also met Eric in the clubhouse who was true gentleman and also welcomed us to join. Very very friendly golf club.
Bar was open but no food😔😔 We had drinks then left. Had a brilliant day
Great
Excellent course, very challenging in the wind conditions
Incredible
A great course which carries a variety of challenges. Excellent condition for the time of year. Will definitely be returning.
Hartlepool Golf club
Good course in good condition with a few quirky but likeable holes.
Course staff were friendly and welcoming.
I would play again.
First time playing
Enjoyed the course. But really struggled with the lack of signage to indicate the next tee boxes. But overall it’s he course was in great condition considering the weather.
Very poor fairways
Having been a member of hartlepool golf club 8 years ago. First time back in that time l was so disappointed in the state of the fairways so much ground almost bare divet after divet on all fairways. Greens not as good as used to be especially front 4/5. However still a lovely course to play even though crossing other groups is still and always will be a danger factor due to course set up.
Mixed feelings
Usually I leave a two or three line review but I thought this one would need some more detail. I have seen the recent reviews on course condition and it was the same when I was there however they appeared to be preparing the course for winter play so I’ll give them a pass.
Having said that this course probably is best not played in winter and will be far better in the warmer months. There’s a mix of holes- most uninteresting although I’d say half a dozen decent ones which are enjoyable to play.
It’s next to the sea but I wouldn’t describe it as links and the turf was more like parkland with lots of long grass in places.
There are a couple of highly rated courses nearby - Seaton Carew which is the best by a mile followed by Cleveland and then some way back to others including Hartlepool. However that is reflected in the price so you get what you pay for.
If you are looking for a cheap round in the area this is a decent choice however if you are not concerned with budget I’d recommend Seaton.
