Shame About the Mower
Nice course and would defintely play it again. There are sufficient shorter holes to give high handicappers like me a chance of reaching par fours in two, with one or two really difficult holes and some that you have play for position. It was only spoiled by the fact their large mower was apparently broken. This left the semi rough with deep clover resulting in myself and my playing partner losing about three balls each when they should have been easily found. Hopefully the mower will be repaired soon. The only other minor fault was the lack of direction signs as the path to the next tee was not always that obvious.
short course with narrow fairways
Hassocks is a short course but quite narrow so you need to be able to hit straight!- plenty of bunkers and water to keep you occupied! The greens are in very good condition. Unfortunately, the weather let us down and we came off after 14holes - however more importantly I had already thrashed my brother 6 and 5 !!
A round with my son
Just had the most fantastic days golf with my son. The course is in great condition . The entire was a pleasure, £10 a round is an absolute bargain, really friendly staff in both the pro shop and the clubhouse bar . I'd recommend it to anyone
Very flat short overpriced course
We booked a tee time for 07.38 yet pro shop didn't open until 07.30 & the clubhouse was still closed We paid £21 each online but I would say that was overpriced & think £15 max would be fair. Fairways were not the best a bit weedy & the sand in most bunkers had a lot of stones. Greens were maintained well..
Ideal for a quick round.
Love this course. If you just want a nice round with a playing time of around three and a quarter to three and a half hours and a fairly flat, short course this is ideal. Would much rather play here for £10-£15 than a better course on paper for £25-£30.
Awful Customer Service in Pro Shop
Arrived to advise person attending Pro Shop that had double booked - Once on Golfnow and once direct with the course direct.
I was told by the attendee that he wouldn't not be able to honor the GolfNow Reservation and that i had to pay an additional £30 and ask GolfNow for a refund on my original reservation.
After speaking with an adviser at GolfNow i have been told they do not offer refunds.
I have basically been lied to by Hassocks staff and paid £63 for a round that should have cost £33.
Ok
The course was clean and tidy, however not playing there before I was relying on the signs to show me the hole layouts. The yardages were wrong on some of them and a few of them were old and didn't have the relevant information. The pace of play was really slow due to a 4 ball out in front and although there seemed to be a ranger on the course he wasn't telling the 4 ball to let people through. Having said that for £20 a round it was value for money
Poor Driving Range
Course is good and not too challenging for a relative newcomer however pre-round warm up poor due to condition of booths/mats or absence of mats on the driving range.
Course in good Nick. Greens a little patchy
Considering the rain the week before the course was in good condition. It used to suffer with bad drainage but it is much improved. Greens were a little patchy but run of ball seemed not to be affected. Will play again during the winter months.
GREAT VALUE WELL LOOKED AFTER COURSE
We have been coming here for a few years now and love the course condition .
Great value for money .
Thanks HASSOCKS !!!
Save this course!
I love this course and play it about once a year.
It improves every time I play and the quality of the fairways and greens put local courses to shame!
It is such a shame that the owners are selling half this course for property development as this will be a great lose to the area.
My only complaint would be the bunkers. Although some are well dressed with sand, others are being left to go to seed which is a shame as many of them are great challenges and improve the difficulty of the course but unfortunately even the good ones havnt been raked in days!
But saying all that it is a great course to play!
Long may it live!
Best value in Sussex?
We've played Hassocks regularly for some years and keep coming for the:
~condition and layout of the course
~ease of green fee availability
~well-stocked pro shop
~friendly staff
~value for money
Give it a try and you'll be back.
Fun and challenging in parts
Like this course, the greens are kept very well, other golfers are friendly and a good round to sharpen up your game. Also has good practice green and a practice ground for irons.
Return
Not played at the course for a number of years and the have been a few changes mostly good. There are a few areas that need improvement including the club house but overall an enjoyable short but challenging course.
