Sorry, but dreadful
We knew from the reviews that this was not going to be a prestige or memorable round. We were wrong - it was memorable but for the wrong reasons. I know that the weather conditions have not been great this year due to extreme temperatures but this course is in dreadful condition. Huge bare areas on what are called fairways, weeds in bunkers, awful, uneven and patchy greens. Shocking.
Short but beautiful
The course not me. A lot of par 3’s short par 5’s. Great condition friendly not as easy as it looks. Would like to play it again !
Glorious day!
Beautiful weather, excellent course conditions and a cool beer afterwards!
Don’t forget your wedges!
Beautifully kept course, staff couldn’t do enough to help us. Some challenging and interesting holes throughout, however had to remember that it wasn’t a par 3 course. We played 11 holes and had 6 par 3’s, a little more variety would be nice.
golf in the hills
An enjoyable course starts with a very tight front 9 forget your driver as distances and ball placement are key from the 11th hole the course opens up and for big hitters becomes more enjoyable (and playable) despite being short this course is tricky, hilly and testing although I imagine single figure players would find it easy. fairways and green in good condition(some had been forked) although the course could not be described as immaculate but definatley good value for money.
had an excellent lunch here. Decent driving range small putting green
A fitting tribute on the 16th dedicated to an American WW2 airplane crashed nearby.
Felt like we was being rushed by other players behind , even though we teed off early! Course seemed to be really long for walks and to each tees, which are spaced out over other tees on the course. No ball wash liquid in any of the equipment!!!
Overall the course was good condition but would definitely advise getting a buggy for the round of 18
Great under used short 18 hole course with good variation
Guys & Gals if you want a great 18 hole course that you can charge around in 3 hours, has a great variation of holes from looking through your feet to the pin 150ft below, to good length open par 5's across a small valley, then this parkland style course has to be for you.
Great clubhouse with good food and vista, good range and golf pro, its just like the acclaimed Temple course nearby, just not as long and half the price.
Really don't know why it is so underused other than its stats look as though its short but it has variation of holes like no other in this area.
Short but lots of fun
Hennerton is not a 'full' sized 18 hole course. The front 9 are a mixture of short par 4s and very short par 3s, with only the back nine being traditional lengths. That shouldn't take away from the fact though that it's an extremely interesting and fun course to play and one that test your ability to pitch accurately.
Due to the short length you should be able to finish the round in under 3.5 hours, and the relatively easy first 4 holes give you a chance to warm up. Though be warned that you'll be a bit rusty when you first have to pull a driver out of the bag on the 11th hole!
The condition of the course is largely what you'd expect for a cheaper pay and play. Ok fairways, slightly long roughs and consistent, if a bit slow, greens. Given the number of shorter holes and wide fairways on the longer ones it's a course were iron accuracy is rewarded and driving is less valuable. Though long hitters will be able to make the greens on quite a few of the par 4s, even on the back nine.
Overall it's a fun course that's especially good for people that don't fancy a long slog round a full 18. Though obviously for those that want a 'serious' game you probably want to go elsewhere.
Great course full of hidden gems only downside was the slow play
Short but fun
The front 9 are mainly par 3s but are all really interesting and quirky, only negative on the day the greens weren't in the best shape but it was 2c and sleeting!
The back 9 opens up on the hillside and gives you the opportunity to get the driver out and start aiming at greens. All in all a nice little course that I'll head back to in the summer for sure.
