Outstanding Course

Simply one of the best around. Despite winter conditions the course played very well - quick greens and a decent challenge. Unbeatable for value and quality.

Hickleton October

First and foremost a very good quality course, with all the required amenities, facilities and fittings.
Well laid out with some lengthy par 4's on a moderately hill terrain.

Only downside was, the lush fairways were awaiting their October cut so ball finding was a challenge leading to a slower round.

Overall an enjoyable round of golf.

Challenging course

The course is very well kept and maintained with good and well paced greens. It’s a challenging walk as there are lots of steepish uphill climbs. You need to be straight as the course is quite tight in places especially on a couple of the par threes. Quite a few dog legs and tree lined fairways make it a tough but very pleasant challenge.

Great course, friendly staff, a good workout to walk this course.
Only negative greens too hard as all our group had difficulty stopping ball on the greens.

Really nice course to play

First time playing Hickleton GC, impressed. Friendly welcome in well stocked pro shop, good practice facilities, smart looking clubhouse. Course in great condition, greens mint for time of year. A bit hilly but easily walked round it. Some tricky par 3s. Worth playing for sure, I’ll return sometime for defo.

Great course but frustratingly slow behind parents with zero etiquette.

First time I have had to call the pro shop to speed the group 2 in front of us up. They were juniors which is great to see. But the parents were the ones to blame and shouldn’t be giving them lessons before and after every single shot. Very frustrating, ruined the round. The 7 holes stuck behind them took as long if not longer than the other 11.

Up and down litrerally!

This was my last course to complete in Doncaster and it was a sunny afternoon- after a ground frost the night before.

Check in the Pro shop efficient and friendly- found my way to the toilet through the locker rooms- which looked very nice.

Onto the 1st tee- all winter tees were in use to protect what looked like impressive green tees. Unlike other winter tees my tee went in everyone without fighting for it to stay up- however, as a leftie there was some debris from previous players shoes! (same everywhere really!). So its down hill near to the water then back uphill to the green, this was the case throughout this course to be honest and you have to be fit to play here!
The greens were in impeccable condition and ran very true- credit to the ground staff, unreal for this time of year.

The course was easy to navigate - a few signs helped along the way and there was a 2 ball in front to.

Literally you will be playing either uphill or downhill - in case of the 14th= both lol & the drop from the hill on the 15th mind blowing!

Due to no rain for a couple of weeks there was no signs of the course being boggy and the fairways quite firm, many varied obstacles and fairways. I thoroughly enjoyed my first round at this course, the pace was good and not too many players on course.

I cannot comment on the 19th but the club house looked lovely- the course is in good surroundings apart from the 1 in 4 hills.

Fantastic course to play

Absolutely fantastic course, I cannot praise it enough, the greens were lovely, the course is not too long, all the layout is great. The scenery is breathtaking on some of the holes. I would advise a buggy though, it is hilly & I thought I was fit but it challenged my fitness! From the arrival at the pro shop to the pint in the clubhouse the staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Definitely playing again. 10/10

Excellent set up

Last played pre covid. The course has been improved. The green keepers must be applauded for at the beginning of the season having all areas in such good condition. The winter tees are excellent and other courses including my own should aim for this standard. It’s a tough winter walk but I knew that before playing. Bar facilities are really good too.

Hickleton in winter

All the staff were friendly and had a bit of banter with some of the members. The course was in excellent condition for the time of year and really enjoyed the day out.

Decent course but there’s better

Well maintained, greens very good. Very boggy in places. Wouldn’t like to play it every week, far too hilly for me and I’m a young golfer. Better courses in the area.
