Winter tees in operation at High Elms now but mats are excellent. Fairways very patchy after being parched from summer but playable - hopefully recover ready for next spring. Greens in reasonable nick. Some green surrounds getting muddy following wet spell but that's the norm this time of year. No temps and, all in all, very good for £15. The pressure hoses for shoes and trollies are located in the middle of a mud heap - so you clean your gear of mud then get covered again walking away from hose! Need a rethink there!
Great little track
The green were still in very good condition. Tees were starting to get wet due to time of year. Overall course was in good condition.
Its not too challenging as a course as several par 4 holes are short. But overall i really liked the day out
Been playing High Elms for 30 years and it remains one of the best layouts around for a public course and for value for money. Course in very fair condition for mid-October. Fairways struggling in parts, like many other clubs, following hot summer but no issues. 3 and a half hours very good. Still gotta re-lay that 10th green, though - absurd slope!!
It has been better
This course has really nice layout but currently isn't playing well. Some fairways are very patchy and the greens have been hollotined. Overall I would still recommend but maybe give it a few weeks.
Really enjoyable day out
Enjoyed playing High Elms. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. More importantly, the course appeared to be well managed , clearly signposted and easy links between green to next tee. Course pleasantly laid out. Wide fairways lined by masses of beautiful trees..
Fairways understandably patchy in places after long summer drought but greens were excellent condition; true and fast. .
Great way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday
I can thoroughly recommend High Elms GC in Orpington. Having spent nearly 20 years paying inflated prices at a private course which was closed more in the winter than not, due to the poor drainage,. High Elms offers great value for money, easy booking facilities, a fair challenge (golf-wise), a well maintained course and fantastic changing rooms. We had minimal hold ups and we managed an enjoyable round. The staff are helpful and friendly and the clubhouse is family friendly and an light and airy.
All in all, a perfect way to spend a bank Holiday Monday. Thank you!
Played here for the first time in several years ago and was disappointed with the new set up in reception, which now acts as a cafe/ bar /pro shop. The golf stock was very limited,
Really nice course to play
Really pleased we played it, fairways and greens in excellent condition, nicely set out and scenic, good for intermediate golfer like myself, greens were a bit slow, but no compliant's, second 9 was a bit of a trek, but over all enjoyed playing the course, staff friendly and club house good. definitely play there again.
High Elms Golf Course
Unfortunately the weather was absolutely freezing and in the open parts of the course the wind was biting to add to the misery the rain came halfway round and did not stop. The course was in fairly good condition however the temp tees are always not good wherever you play. Only 1 temp green on 7th hole
Course overall was in very good condition, the fairways were well cut as was the light rough. The only criticism I have to make is that some of the greens weren't particularly in good shape, the putting surface was difficult and inconsistent admittedly not all greens bit I would say 60% of them.
Played at midday and course was clear. Bunkers need a bit more sand but overall a good course and good value.
The course was in good condition, really great to find a course that takes care of their bunkers, so many dont. look forward to playing here again. one warning for other golfers get there early, as people who use the country park like to fill the golf course car park, rather than the country park one.
Although we played the course in the pouring rain that had the advantage that we were literally the only 2 people on the whole course.Tees and greens were in good condition considering the weather and fairways were also good.Although it was a shame about the continuous rain i would recommend this course and it was fantastic value for money
No words to describe!!! Really wonderful afternoon. Challenging course!!! I'll definitely go back there!!!
