Absolute nightmare
Managed to double book our tee time and couldn’t arrange for us to play before 2hours after our planned tee time. Course is in really poor condition, greens not receptive at all. Uninteresting layout with a number of drivable par 4... probably the worst golf course I have seen so far. Would not recommend at all, so many great courses in the area with better quality / value for money
High Elms
Always enjoy a trip to High Elms. A nice mixture of holes and the course is always in good condition.
Was a bit slow to start but the 4 ball in front let us through.
Slow play due to a comp
Turn up to course to say there is a competition being played when tee time was booked for. 2 hours 45 minutes to finish 9 holes. Far to slow.
Tee times overbooked!
I turned up 15 minutes before my tee time. Went to practice in the nets before and there was one group on the tee box and 2 more waiting. I had two groups come up to me and ask what time I was teeing off. Both had the same time as me. I couldn't really rate the course conditions as after an hour and only playing 2 holes I decides to leave. Unfortunately I had booked on here and was unable to get my money back.
Great course
Amazing value . Short but tricky pins . Definitely returning
Nice course too busy
Nice course layout, some challenging holes, par 3 213 yrds very tough. Liked the course layout. The pace of play was terrible, over 5 hrs for a round is just way to long, to many people waiting at the first, we knew, we was in for a long round. Which was a shame, would play it again just may tee off much later in the day next time
Saturday Morning Concerns
We booked this course having not played it many years, upon arrival was advised that the course layout had changed, the back 9 was not the front 9.
The putting green was very sandy but advised by the starter that the rest of the greens were good....... that was no way accurate - they were all awful. I understand that this time of year the greens need work, but new players should be notified and green fee reduced as no green was of a suitable standard for £30.
As a 2 ball at the start we were advised there were members in front, but they should let a quick 2 ball through, 2 groups did let us through, but at were held up for 13 holes by a very unobservant 4 ball members group hitting it all over the place... who would not let us through and subsequently had to wait on every shot for the remainder of the round. When mentioned about it in the Pro shop, it seemed that this was the normal and nothing could be done about it.
Great value for money
Good challenge at an acceptable pace for a sensible weekend price
Great course, well maintained, outstanding value for money
Great course, in really good condition and really good value for money. Will come back again
Lovely course for the price
Well looked after considering it’s winter. Nice course, will definitely be heading back again.
Interesting layout, winter course, muddy underfoot
Being winter time, this course was quite muddy underfoot. The greens were quite bumpy. I enjoyed the variety of the different holes. The only hole that I found very confusing was the second hole, as there was no direction pole showing the direction of the fairway. Being a short hole, I had no idea where to aim my drive. This was the only hole where I lost my ball.
Great golf and Great rice
For £16 a round at 1pm tee time I thought that this course offered absolute value for money. It's a lovely course though due to a lack of rain the fairways were very dry. The greens were well kept and frustratingly fast at this time of year.
Overall I was extremely pleased and will definitely be visiting again soon.
Decent course
Was only 25£ each person for a 4 ball which we all thought was a very good price. It wasn’t busy on the day so we wasn’t waiting for anyone to finish in front of us or have people waiting and watching us play. Would definitely go back
Winter golf
Winter tees in operation at High Elms now but mats are excellent. Fairways very patchy after being parched from summer but playable - hopefully recover ready for next spring. Greens in reasonable nick. Some green surrounds getting muddy following wet spell but that's the norm this time of year. No temps and, all in all, very good for £15. The pressure hoses for shoes and trollies are located in the middle of a mud heap - so you clean your gear of mud then get covered again walking away from hose! Need a rethink there!
Great little track
The green were still in very good condition. Tees were starting to get wet due to time of year. Overall course was in good condition.
Its not too challenging as a course as several par 4 holes are short. But overall i really liked the day out
Old fave
Been playing High Elms for 30 years and it remains one of the best layouts around for a public course and for value for money. Course in very fair condition for mid-October. Fairways struggling in parts, like many other clubs, following hot summer but no issues. 3 and a half hours very good. Still gotta re-lay that 10th green, though - absurd slope!!
