disappointing afternoon
We played at hilltop many times, but this time the course is very poor, it lacks maintenance and needs money spent on it, the tees are like the rough, not flat but all over the place, just put somewhere on the course, the fairways were like the rough, and not cut for a very long time, the player behind us was a visitor from the usa, he stated he lost 15 balls and these were on the fairway, he never seen anything like it the rough was so long looked like they had just left it, the greens were not much better, like putting on concrete, and pitch marks everywhere, there were people just walking onto the course and playing were ever they wanted to, in my opinion this course has just been left and nobody cares, it could be a very good course but needs attention quickly.
Course is great
Love this course really has a bit of everything and the greens are always great just need to sort the tee boxes out and some of the rough needs love but besides that superb
This course has some nice par fives
Nice course, the green's were good for the time of year and staff nice and friendly
course condition
Variable hole layouts make this a course to return to
Greens in good condition but fairway Ist cut a bit long
Hilltop Golf Course
Played here several times before and usually enjoyable. This time the fairways hadn't been mowed for weeks the rough was very thick and the bunkers were unplayable. Lost balls when just off the fairway due the rough.
good value money
course not used much, not many people playing on a Sunday afternoon, grass a bit long, leaves losing balls, greens very patchy, but for the money and course very open, is good for a municipal council course. Shop and café closes early so take things with you, while there did notice people walking across from the road and playing for nothing, better security needed to stop this,
The course has been much improved since the last time I played. The greens are better maintained than previously. The course is quite challenging for a beginner but it has some wonderful views from many of the tees.
Decent course for the price
Love the layout of this course, there are a good few challenging holes but the course is let down by a few simple things. 1. Bunkers are not bunkers as there is barely any sand. 2. Tees were not mown and looked messy. 3. Rough in places too long so a ball that is just off the fairway can be lost to easily. The good thing is that the course is fairly quiet most times so you would be unlucky to be stuck behind a slow group. The greens are always pretty good so for 10-15 quid you can't go wrong.
Good Experience
Three of us booked this course, and the whole experience from booking to the end was relaxed and very enjoyable. This was the first time we changed from playing 9 holes to 18 holes.
The staff was friendly, helpful and put us on ease. The only thing we were disappointed was the cafe was shut and we could not have a cup of tea after the game.
Good condition of course except the bunkers.
Course good value for money, greens were reasonable but the bunkers need a lot of attention.
Good start
I'm new to golf and found that hill top is an ideal course for beginners due to its forgiving fairway but speaking to my playing partner is still challenging enough for seasoned players
My Experience
Played this course at the weekend, good test of golf for high handicap golfers, bunkers did not have alot of sand in them and the green's were bobbly and slow. Staff were extremely friends and hospitable. Pace of play was slow however this could of been just coincidence. Overall it was ok for £14 however my high handicapped playing partner enjoyed themselves.
Hilltop GC
I play this course quite often and for the money you pay it really is a fantastic golf course. Apart from the pylons it is much better than a lot of the more expensive courses, definitely recommend.
On top of the hill
The course was in good condition, greens were running true though a few were bumpy with bare patches. The fairways are wide enough to be welcoming but if you stray off the cut stuff, the rough is very long. My advice Stay on the fairways and it is an easy course!
The facilities are somewhat sparse and the club house was shuttered closed and therefore not welcoming.
Rough was too long, but wasn't helped by my woeful tee shots.
Thanks
