Open course

The course is quite forgiving and open which certainly helps for some shots! The tee areas need some work but overall good value for money nice course

Lovely welcome .... Pleasant round.

A warm happy welcome from Will as always, great to find a course available to play in the current conditions while our home course was closed.....
Although a slow round, to be expected when the course is full, still managed to get around in under 4 hours on a semi sunny Sunday afternoon.
Wish fellow golfers would replace divots, rake bunkers and repair pitch marks....if you can't do this, maybe you'd be better sticking to bowls! Or hiring a caddy !
We shall return, thanks you Hurtmore and staff for a cracking little course, with something for everyone, drivable par 4s and more...

A very good course

We played in February and for winter all the greens were open all in very good condition. The majority of tee boxes were open with only a handful that had to be played off mats.
Pace of play was okay we had a group jump in front of us all of a sudden on the 10th which but the brakes on which was frustrating as it’s a busy course on weekend so course marshals would be a benefit.
A good course, challenging and not long, suitable for all players.

A solid ‘go to’ for our many winter boookings

Hurtmore proudly boast their ability to offer golf throughout the winter months and we have enjoyed a good number of rounds through this winter season; the course is always very playable. With the amount of rain we have experienced, we find no water on the course to cause us concern, except the two arms of the lake that sit between tee and green on the 16th! But we rise to the challenge. Thanks to the whole team at Hurtmore who, with their hard work in course maintenance and friendliness in the clubhouse, have made our winter golf so enjoyable.

Course condition.

Considering the amount of rain we have had, the course was still in good condition.

A simple improvement - repair the ruts!

I have played this course for a number of years and generally it is a good course. However one simple way to improve the experience is to repair the many hundreds of deep ruts that are all over the course.

These ruts bumps and hollows give the impression that the course is unloved which I know is not the case. The course is popular and is probably over played.

I hope this was constructive and helpful.

Good day out

Course was in great condition considering all the rain we had. The only downside was the pace of play which was very slow at times. We were waiting on nearly all the hoes for 2 & 3 balls when we were a 4 ball.

Overall a very good day out and I would recommend playing Hurtmore as the pace was the only negative factor yesterday. I have played the course a few times when the pace was good so not sure what was going on yesterday.

Challenging

It's a nice corse, I've only played it 4 or 5 times in the winter and it is very playable so I can imagine in the summer it's great to play, it's deceptively challenging specially the 18th.
The staff are friendly and the clubhouse is warm and tidy
I will definitely keep going back

Excellent value for money

Can’t argue at the value for money this course offers! Would only advise that the fairways are relatively narrow so always close to golfers playing on next hole! Maybe an issue with driving for newcomers. Overall will definitely be back

A cracking round, confidence builder.

On Christmas eve, why not go play a round of golf, so Hurtmore was chosen , knowing that it can handle most of the recent rains and hopefully still be in good condition.
It was, greens allowed you to go at the flags, lovely and receptive, fairways good except for the creators where previous golfers haven't be bothered to replace their divots, that's when I'm greatful for winter rules!
Bunkers not too bad, plenty of sand in most, be great if once again those who land in there rake them! I was punished by landing in a previous 3rd escape divot of a recent visitor......
I ended up being invited to join a 3 ball, good group on lads, thankful I did as it was slow ahead because of a 2 and 4 ball who seemed to constantly be joining each other down the fairways, then finishing before teeing up separately again? Loved the short par 4s, wonderful long par 5 and some tough little par 3s, snagged 5 birdies out there, mostly from some good recoveries.....
Thoroughly enjoyed my pre Christmas round of golf, no lost balls, a great short course that's well worth a visit, if only others cared for it as much as some....
Greenkeepers I dote my hat, loved the greens, thank you Hurtmore, I shall return....

A course to be relied on

Even when the weather is a little concerning, we know that Hurtmore can be relied on to provide a worthwhile golfing experience. Course well maintained and greens running pretty true. Some greens a little moist but not showing laying water and not a putt blamed on the conditions - more our own lack of precision! Really good round and must thank all at Hurtmore for their efforts to make sure that players can enjoy the round.

Well maintained course

Pro shop person extremely friendly, excellent well maintained course. My only comment would be not enough bins around course as cans, crisp and sweet papers littered around, not the clubs problem I know but shocked people just drop their litter, they found the space to take it with them so why not take it back

Greens were great

Greens were almost impeccable and were actually the main defence for what appears to be quite a short course. The positions of the pins made each green a real challenge especially putting. The greens were overall in excellent condition. The fairways weren't as in good condition but still perfectly playable. Most bunkers were pretty good, some could do with a bit more sand in, especially the front bunker on the second par 3. decent putting green although there were no flags out when we were there. They also had some warm up nets in place of not having a driving range I assume. There were some matts to chip off onto the putting green, which was a nice touch. The club house was pleasant and had friendly staff, there was a tv in there also so we could watch the Ryder cup whilst we ate. Food could have been a bit better but it was cheap enough. Intriguingly it looked like the clubhouse had a simulator room, I am assuming for the members. Overall very pleased with the course for the price we paid. Although it appears a short course and the longer drivers will be able to hit a couple of the short par 4s in one, it still proves a challenge to an average golfer.
