Unique
An interesting and unique little course. Really friendly staff and enjoyable chance at links golf.
A short course easy on the legs along the seafront and although a 9 hole course with different T positions to make it an 18 hole course don’t let this put you off
Hythe Imperial
The course was extremely dry which was surprising considering the amount of rain that had fallen in recent weeks. It was hard to get a tee in the ground. It was well cared for and in generally good condition.
A rather confusing layout with a number of hole crossing each other. I thought the greens were a bit on the small side making it difficult to pitch a ball on and getting it to stay on the green.
Not that much in the way of off course facilities but there is a small ‘clubhouse’ with a limited stock of refreshments.
Friendly Club
Nice tidy links course. On the day of our visit hardly anybody on the course. Not a long course but interesting playing into the wind straight off the channel. Well worth visiting and fun course to play.
Welcoming links course
Hythe is a welcoming links course on the Kent coast.
The course’s main challenge on the day was the wind. For the time of year the condition was good condition with only the one temporary green. Hythe would be great for beginners as there isn’t a huge amount of challenge or difficulty.. The course isn’t overly long which makes for quick play. Hythe has several shared greens, so playing for the first time requires some concentrated navigation but the pro was quick to point out this out on arrival and arm with the necessary course map.
On the day we visited (in April) the course was very quiet, which gave time to enjoy the views of the coastline.
The links is sandwiched between the sea and the old military canal and when on the higher tee boxes the views are lovely. The pro was welcoming and very accommodating, suggesting we tee off before our allotted time to get out ahead of a member’s 4 ball.
Overall, Hythe is a lovely little links with a welcoming atmosphere and great views, making for an enjoyable and relaxed round of golf.
Good course condition and friendly staff
Course conditions were good. A few very long fairways and a couple of dog legs kept it interesting.
A pleasant surprise....
A screw up with dates and places put us 30mins behind but a quick call to Jenny at Hythe and we were still assured of a round...so a big thanks.
The course is set back from the ocean, almost sheltered in a bowl, between the coast road and canal, some really nice tough short holes and a few much longer par 5s, very true and quite pacey greens. Rough wasn't too penal in the main, but in summer I'd love to see it up.
I had a good round and only the 180 yard hole 4/13? Stopped me shooting under the course par! A bogey both times!
(Tough raised green into wind)
There's 18 tees and 12 greens, some different flags on some holes, different greens for others or shared dual flags, once you get your head around that it's easy enough.
If I was local it would be a great place to improve, nice short range area, big putting green and lovely looking clubhouse and bar.
Keep it up Hythe, many thanks....
Good course, very welcoming
We were warmly welcomed. Course was a good condition and greens were excellent
Lovely course and quite
I’am very new to golf (7months) I broke 100 here both times I played at this course, which is normal for me now so that means it’s not too tricky to play. It has become my favourite place to play because I really like the layout and the way the course looks plus it hasn’t been busy when I have played here which suits me very well being a beginner
average
A hard course to review as its run by the members who are mostly very nice. However the layout is not good especially if its busy. You have to crossover a lot and share greens. Then you separate for a hole and then you all seem to meet back up on the next tee and share a green again. Sounds confusing and it is, To me it would work better 9 tees and greens and just go round twice,
In a nice setting and the weather can be nice all year. Also separated from the sea by a wall so wind was not a problem either. Enjoyed the experience but wont go back
Hythe golf club.
Hi, this is the second round I’ve had on Hythe. I have enjoyed both times. 2nd time was a bit slower due to several 4 balls and just the nature of the layout. It does cause a few bottlenecks but not major. There are half a dozen shared greens which can make it slightly awkward depending on which nine you are on. As for the staff, admin, greens etc a warm welcome and a very pleasant experience.
