Great course
The weather gods were against us and the wind made it tricky so high up but we had great fun and the course was in great condition, especially greens and tee mats. Definitely coming back on a nicer day.
Disappointed
I have played this course twice in the previous 2 years (holidaying in Cumbria) and it has not come up to its usual standards. The tees were full of divots all over and not mown and the greens were not very good. The greens on the last 4 holes were just covered in sand and grass seed. I will not be playing there next year! We could not even get food from the clubhouse due to catering staff change.
Stunning views
Firstly let’s get the down sides out of the way…..
The greens were sadly scorched in the May heat wave and therefore were in poor condition when we played.
Also the course wasn’t my cup of tea as there are so many blind shots to play and not only off the tee. Made for a round that was all guess work. I’d probably have a better score knowing when I was going but it’s nice to see the ball towards the green rather than it disappear over the hill….This is only my opinion and I’m sure there’s loads that love the course set up.
Now the good stuff……..Firstly the staff and members were super friendly and are a credit to the club. The views are also stunning and should be taken in as you walk around the course.
Would I play here again??? Yes I would but there are others in the area that I want to try before returning. Thanks Kendal golf club and good luck with sorting the greens.
Could be a gem with improvements to the greens
We are on a weeks golf holiday and have been trying out courses in the area. Lots of positives - I made a mess up with our booking (booked the wrong day by accident and missed the slot) the staff were extremely helpful and allowed us to come the following day (thank you). The views and variety of holes were immense with lots of different challenges. We are relatively fit and going up and down pushing a trolley was a bit testing! The negatives, the course felt a bit unloved, the greens were not in great condition, very patchy and mossy and overall it felt like the course needed a bit of tlc, some investment in green keeping would make it fantastic. Unfortunately the greens would put us off returning to this one.
Terrible Golf Course!, Do not Play here!
The course is terrible, the greens are the worst I have ever seen, I got warned off people after I booked it to cancel it and play somewhere else but I’d already paid through GolfNow, shambles of a course!!
Great value & challenging course
Really nice Pro & course layout. Greens were true & with a little work would be excellent.
It’s in the Lake District, so expect it’s going to be hilly. With that said it doesn’t cause any problems for your shots.
Would recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area.
FYI. Restaurant is not open presently & Pro is really helpful.
Thanks for your help.
Kendal,mint
Played kendal whilst staying near windermere, and it was a joy, course is hilly but a good lay out and test, wanted to play Sunday but after rain all day, played Monday and there wasn't a dropnof water on the course, well worth it.
Pity no catering on at moment, but kendal town centre half a mile away.
Course Review
Amazing course, perfect condition for the time of the year.
Kendal review
Great course in great condition for the time of year will be going back in summer
One for road golf
Course was in great condition gave us a mat for fairways which shows there looking after it 👌great views 🏌️♂️
Tough day at the office
Definitely recommended to tick off your golf course list!
Views were absolutely worth the green fee alone .
Pro was really friendly and welcoming ,pro shop had everything we needed.
Greens weren’t in the best condition (maybe due to lack of rain past couple weeks)
Challenging course to say the lease ,members on the course were great with us too.
Favourite hole : PARR3 on the 17th Wow………unreal!
Shame bar was closed loved a beer on 19th looking over the Mountain View’s .
Cheers

Kendal golf course
Apart from the mist coming in absolutely great course in great condition for the time of year definitely going back in summer
Fantastic course
This is my 3rd time playing Kendal but first time in winter. Course was in very good condition for the time of year. Greens excellent for winter greens. Every hole different and interesting. Quite hilly with lots of elevation changes. We had 12:40 tee time (sunset before 4 pm) so I bought some glow balls anticipating finishing in the dark. They were great fun and fantastic. Played 17 and 18 in the dark. We had nobody immediately in front or behind and as a 2 ball enjoyed great pace of play. One of the best courses I have played and especially in winter as well drained. Spectacular 360deg scenery. Wonderful away day. Highly recommended both in summer and winter. The pro shop and bar staff were very friendly. Cheapest round of golf ever: £9.99 on Golf Now £5.01 cheaper than if booked directly.
Autumn round
First time playing the course. Despite almost two days of constant wind and rain prior to our game I was not expecting to play. However the course was very much playable , soft in areas but not as bad as I expected. Greens were superb great speed and tricky to read.
Pro shop well stocked and very welcoming staff
Course is very much one you would play different second time around once you knew the blind shots.
The club do have a few issues, hole 16 has been shortened due to neighbouring industrial units complaining about stray balls hitting cars. Also a bit disappointed not to be able to grab a beer or done food after our round as apparently caterers recently walking out.
One I would recommend playing if in the area.
