Great course usually
I’ve played here half a dozen times now. The course has a lovely lay out and some great holes, if you hit a long drive and are adventurous the last 2 par fives are reachable in 2 if you take an aggressive line and go over the trees, the 16th par 3 is a cracking hole guarded by a tree to the left of the green, so good luck hitting the green but it’s doable, the greens are very slow here which is so strange as they look like they should be rapid, I was very disappointed as they were hollow tining the greens in September? Overall it’s a good course and it never seems to busy
Scenic course with breathtaking views
Excellent value for this challenging course with an entertaining range of holes. The fairways were lush and made the ball easier to hit but several greens were rather uneven and lumpy. The rough is thick and almost impossible to hit out of but the fairways are nice and wide. Playing the course is hard with lots of gradients but that’s how it should be. Views over Blencathra are a constant delight.
Stunning course
Tees, fairways and greens were so well done. No bunkers on this course but a great mix of wide open fairways, narrow tee shots and tricky corners to navigate. The views are spectacular and rival any of the North American courses..
Stunning views and well put together course
Visited Keswick GC for the first time in a while on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed the layout and the course conditions. Really well kept, amazing scenery and a tough course despite it not being too long. Would consider a buggy as its pretty hilly in places. Course hospitality and catering were brilliant - would certainly want to play it again given some of the blind shots. Should be on your list to play if you haven’t already.
Didn’t even play!
Booked a round for when we were on holiday in the area. Woke up on the morning and checked the course status on their website which said, despite it being nice weather for a few days, that only 9 holes were open and that it was very wet. So I called the club to cancel as we didn’t want to play the same 9 holes twice which I’m guessing is what they would suggest. Called the club 18 times between 8:30 and 11:15 (our tee time was 11:28) but there was no answer. Club doesn’t appear to have a pro shop so had to choose between the office or the bar!? No one answered either. Long story short, we paid for a round that we didn’t play because no one answered the phone to give us a refund!
Wonderful experience
The course is in one of the most scenic anywhere in the UK. We had a lovely lunch before our round it was amazing quality of food and service was superb. Wry friendly not stuffy at all. The course was varied and challenging and very well tended. Will revisit for sure. Highly recommended.
Picturesque but not much fun
Beautiful spot with amazing views, but the rough spoilt it for 3 "average" golfers and quite surprised at all the good reviews
We all love a challenge, but as three guys playing off 12, 15 and 21, I can't say we enjoyed this place
The course was in decent condition, but considering we were in the middle of another heatwave, it was weirdly wet in places, with balls pugging on the fairway!
The biggest problem is the rough.
Narrow fairways everywhere, which is fine, 1 metre width of light rough either side, which then turned into 2 feet high thick, dense, rough on every hole.
I would like say it was hard / impossible to get out of, but that would be if you could your ball, which we rarely did, even when it just ran ran into this thick stuff
So, absolutely no margin for error
Spoilt the round really.
There is plenty of space here to graduate the rough and give people a chance
The greens were strange too. So many were just short cut grass in the fairway, no bunkers or definition/ shapes - even the 18th
Hard Walking too - you need a buggy!
Picturesque Lakeland course
Lush fellside course with tremendous backdrops. Plenty of potential card wreckers possibly best played in summer. Challenging par 3’s
Keswick
Really enjoyed the course, the scenery was outstanding, the greens and fairways were lovely although a touch wet in places. My only real criticism was the tees could have been cut better (possibly the green keepers hadnt got to them yet due to my 8.30 tee off). I would 100% play this again.
Victim Of Conditions
Lovely course and nicely laid out with a range of challenges across all 18 holes but the biggest challenge is the drainage. Played early June having been 19-20°C earlier in the week and was like being in Feb/March with balls plugging in the fairway, winds all over and greens very slow. Impossible to find lost balls in the rough so will know accuracy is key if I come back in drier conditions at the end of the summer.
