Overall fantastic experience
I often try to get out to play courses I’ve never played, so I looked on the golf now app and this course stood out having a high rating and good value for money. Another stand out was being the highest course in England along with only being 45 minute drive away. I arrived early to check out the pro shop, and there was a friendly young man who was happy to help and provide information. I then had a quick coffee inside the clubhouse and a friendly chat with a member and also a society that were about to start. When it came to my tee off I was eager to start, and as I climbed up through the 1st and so on, I was then greeted by a 360 degree spectacular view which got more impressive from the 9th & 10th tee boxes. The only downfall was that I was on my own to experience this. Being on your own means that you catch up groups in front which was the case, I then asked a 2 ball behind if they would like to join me for the final 5 holes. They were a father and son who happened to be very friendly and easy to get along with, enough so I bought them both a drink in the club house whilst I enjoyed one of the clubs specials on the reasonably priced menu. If I lived closer I would definitely think about getting a membership at this course with the great MOD discount that is offered.
Awesome winter golf
Fun course, great conditions for winter, great greens with friendly staff. All round great golfing experience
Easily the best course I’ve played for £18
Great course that plays similar to links, my home course has been wet and muddy with temporary greens so wanted to go play a round where it would be dry and enjoyable - the course was a real treat.
Greens and fairways as firm as you would find anywhere at this time of year and the best value for money you will find
Staff very friendly especially the young lad in the pro shop.
Another visit will be planned soon
Amazing winter conditions
I've never been so surprised by a golf course. To think that every club in my area is boggy and horrendous, yet here I didn't have to wipe away mud after every shot, plus came away with mud free trousers and shoes speaks for itself. The fairways run like mid summer for most places and the greens were in tip top condition. Also for being on top of a hill, it felt like a nice pleasant stroll and the views are some of the best you're ever going to see on a golf course. All in all, it was a great day out and will definitely be returning.
Where back yet again
Course yet again brilliant , my favourite course but nearly 2 hours away but well worth the trip we will definitely return again as soon as possible
Kington a wonderful day out
Played this course several times, and love it to bits, if it was closer 1hour 30 minutes away , it would be my home course, the greens where brilliant, like in the summer and pretty dry conditions up there not muddy like my own course, we will definitely return early next year great views and smashing holes, only bit I don’t like is the lane up to the course(single track) if cars are coming down but everything else is good
Fantastic Course for the Wet Winter Weather
The course is in absolutely excellent condition for this time of year and I can't recommend it enough for this time of year. Perched atop Bradnor Hill, the course stays dry and drains perfectly when everywhere else is a soggy mudbath. Only 2 winter mats in place off the tee (2nd and 15th), everywhere else is a regular tee box. The greens are in perfect condition, fast and solid, to the point that a couple of shots onto the green didn't even leave a pitchmark!
The views are stunning and the course beautiful, especially the back 5 playing back towards the clubhouse. A couple of short par 4 and 5 holes make the course eminently scorable in good weather, and a fun challenge to do so.
It can be really windy on top so conditions can be difficult and snow will stick around longer than in other places, but if it's the wet you're trying to avoid, this course is an absolute 10 out of 10.
Poor Member Etiquette
We played as 2 golfers in a buggy behind a 4 ball chopping it everywhere and looking for balls most holes, after hole 4 we were told "we would let you through but there's nowhere to go" ???? there was only a ball in front of them and they were well ahead by the 5th so we spent most the day standing waiting which we all know spoils a round - To be honest i've played Church Strettton also which is similar to this course with spectacular views but the members attitude really spoilt it for us - nice but i don't think we will be back
Round 3 60th Birthday Championship
Another lovely day in the sunshine. This course was certainly hilly and required much thought about where to play the ball. Get it wrong and you will roll!!! Fantastic views from the tops of the hills which have easily been the best of our 5-day championship. Greens were in good condition and surprisingly fast on several of the mid-round holes. Sheep everywhere but not at all bothered by golfers. The bracken was not too high, but by mid-June it might be much taller leading to challenges finding any off-fairway balls. Lesson learned….don’t poke around in gorse bushes as they are sharp on the legs….most players were in shorts.
The hills were certainly a workout for the legs!
Very sociable clubhouse after our round and in fact throughout the day there was a well-relaxed atmosphere with all players on the course. Very good value drinks at the club bar which was very refreshing (ha!) given the higher prices we’ve paid at some of the larger clubs.
Thanks to all that engaged with our 4-ball. We’ll look at your playing recommendations maybe next time for a few rounds in mid-Wales.
The course with the spectacular views
Even if your golf is not good you have got fantastic views from every hole on the couese
Awesome Views
Course was in fantastic condition for the time of year ..Greens immaculate and pacey.. Panoramic views were breathtaking..Staff friendly.A great days golf.. highly recommend
Return to Kington
We play this course 4-5 times a year never disappoints it’s simply wonderful, if we lived closer it would be my home club, but it’s 60 miles away and takes 1.5hrs to reach but we’ll worth it , there are no sand bunkers but the traps around the green catch you out it’s great all year around because it’s so high, sheep everywhere and some tricky holes but if you don’t come off wanting more there’s something wrong, just don’t go on very windy days but all in all brilliant fun day out, I will be back
Hidden Gem
Played here about 5 times now and it never disappoints. If you like your golf with a view and top notch greens...this is the place for you. The staff and greenkeepers are all very friendly and helpful also. 10/10!
A diamond in the sky
Not much more you can say about this course that others already haven’t!! It’s simply amazing, the greens were outstanding, value for money like you’ve never seen! Why this course isn’t always busy is beyond me as it’s one of my favourites. This is up there with Pyle and Kenfig, Pennard the lot!
