In the clouds at Kington
When most courses are suffering from Winter rain and frost Kington remains uncsathed...well drained..no Temps with rolling fairways ..A real Gem right on my doorstep
Amazing views
A friend advised us to try this course for the views. It was amazing - we had great weather and could see for miles and miles. Plays like a links course and quote a challenge but fair. Was in great condition.
Pro was not very friendly and gave us incorrect information about availability of food which was really disappointing. Didn't see any other staff.
Members we met on the course were chatty and helpful.
Kington GC
There is no better course where the quality, challenge, value and the VIEWS are at Kington. I will keep coming back at every opportunity. If I lived nearer I would become a member. Thankyou Kington: Herefordshire’s finest.
Lucky with the weather and no wind!!!
I was so lucky with the weather on Friday morning as I started with a thermal, golf shift, jumper and gilet and ended wearing only the thermal and golf shirt. It got quite hot at times. Pro was nice and let me off 15 minutes before scheduled time. Interesting course to say the least. Greens were in good condition even though they had recently been worked on. Par 3 are really tough and require precise shots and it takes some getting used to to pitch up to Par 3 greens and not putt up!!! Fantastic views from every aspect of the course. My highlight-birdie 3 at 16 and holed a couple of 15 foot putts. I would definitely come back and play course again. Did not stop for a drink or bite to eat but as I was driving back to Vowchurch heavens opened.
One to remember.
Try it out. I was very impressed by the unusual challenge presented by this course . Undulating fairways with unusual rolls , ball often above/ below your feet in stance ,green -side grass hazards all add to the day.
Would want to avoid a wet or windy day ,it is difficult enough , but found the layout interesting and very different.
Clubhouse and kitchen superb ,we had a warm welcome .
Always play full 18 ...9th green is miles from car park.
Views around the turn are special .
At this altitude putting greens can look uneven in colour but are well watered, receptive and roll true.
Plan to return soon.
Must Play Bucket List
Exceeded expectations. Quirky but that added to its charm. Elevated greens really tested your short game. You had better check the terrain around the greens before you putt as what may look uphill isn’t. Will definitely return as course knowledge will make the next round even more enjoyable. Well done to its members, staff and fairway “mowing “ crew — the sheep!
Views were wonderful but the elevated position of the course left you more exposed to the wet and windy weather conditions. We made use of some of the shelters.
A good test of golf, the sloping fairways could leave your ball in the bracken. the grassy bunkers provided a challenge though less daunting than sand filled ones.
Overall a good course for holiday recreation. Superb views and hospitality.
Top Views
The expansive views were amazing. Sheep share the course. Fast fairways and small greens. Extreme bounces in some areas so control of the golf ball is essential. Rough is penal.
Didn't disappoint
The views around the course were amazing. The course itself is about keeping in play and out of the fern the define the holes. The weather was wet and windy and i would love to come back and play again on a better day and having a better idea of when to go on the blind hole. Great fun to play and the food and drink was great to.
Nice course great views
Definitely a course to make sure you
Play at least once - hot summer day so relatively easy with no wind. This has been on my bucket list for awhile and certainly was a really great experience. The views are absolutely spectacular which probably makes the course feel a bit better than it actually is but nevertheless really enjoyed it. I would put it up with the likes of Cleeve Hill and Painswick as a great old fashioned course

Amazing course! Awesome views! Some really challenging holes. Don't be misled by the lack of sand bunkers - you will need a lob wedge to chip out of, and over, the many green side grass bunkers! Can't wait to go back there.
A bit overrated
Don’t get my wrong, beautiful views. But, this is a golf club and I feel it’s overrated. Take away the novelty of it being the highest course in the U.K., and what you have got is a fairly poorly designed course, with a healthy load of sheep dung all over it and howling winds. At times it feels you’re playing in a field with a few greens scattered around. In fairness the greens are in good condition.
Without a question, the most unique experience
Third time playing in three years. Amazing each time. So unusual and original. And a great staff.,
Awesome!
I've paid lots of money to play courses around the world but I think Kington is my number 1 favourite now. Outstanding views, top notch greens and great clubhouse and staff. Value for money unreal. Go and play it
Great hilltop course - highest in England. Windy conditions will test anyone!
Played this fabulous course last week. Highest course in England at almost 1300 ft. Challenging course made even tighter with the windy conditions. Greens were fast and true - supposedly like table tops with some sun on them! Every course needs its protection - don't be put off by the Par 70 sub 6,000 yard layout. Loved it and will be back for sure
