Bumpy
First time playing Greatwood in a month and what jumps out at me is the condition of the greens. Very bumpy. If they can, the greens crew needs to roll them. Fairways are also bumpy but I can live with it.
Very little roll on the fairways. Area courses continue to recover from one of the worst droughts since 2011. I do like the layout…quite interesting and challenging. Especially the finishing two holes. Hole number 10 remains a personal puzzle…getting across in two for a 73 year old is quite the challenge. I almost made it this time.
TINY greens & carts died
No marshal, some greens are less than 10 yards wide. Cart died on 14th hole, had to call 3 times to get pro shop to answer, took over 20 minutes to get new cart. 2 other groups had a dead cart. Bunkers left from day before and less than 2 in deep. Pro shop was not open until after first 2 tee times passed and no golf pro around.
Should be no more than $40.
Greatwood
Bathrooms and clubhouse are in dire need of improvement. The greens have been shrunk so small it’s a little ridiculous.
General grounds are not kept at all. Weeds, dirt areas, trash, tree limbs, it looks abandoned in places. I live in the neighborhood and it’s unfortunate and embarrassing.
Greens were good. Fairways very bumpy. Off the fairways was all dirt or mud. Sands traps were hard as rock. Won’t play there again.
Friday Afternoon at Greatwood GC
Weather was cool though humid.. Course conditions was nice and pace of play was reasonable though could be better.
paid twice
booked greatwood and paid online $64,but the reception asked me to pay $64.
Finally comfortable conditions!
This course…like all the others I’ve played lately, shows signs of the excessive drought. Clay soil in the rough are cracked. That said, the traps were consistent, very playable.
