Leatherhead Golf Club
An interesting course, located close to the M25 in Surrey which was perfect for the three of us arriving from different directions. The welcome from reception was excellent - I was even provided with a brief tour of the golfing facilities.
The course was a fair challenge with lots of trees although the greens were rather inconsistent, having been recently been hollow-tined and plied with lots of sand. Some of the sand would have been better served in the bunkers as many were distinctly lacking in this department. The front 9-holes were better than the back nine as we felt there was more emphasis placed on avoiding damage to the multi-million pound houses adjacent to the course than there was on the golf course itself on the way back to the 19th.
Service at the 19th was very good although prices were a tad on the high side.
Great location for a challenging round of golf
This course has a lit of variety starting with a par 5 but finishing with a long par 3 and i am nkt a fan of finiahing on a 3.
But apart from that, this course is fun, greens true and happy to go back again and again.
A bit expensive
This is a nice course with good food but it’s a bit expensive
Excellent
If you could only lose the sound of the M25 this would be a top, top golf course. It’s still excellent.
Nice day spoilt by a slow society
Reasonable course in good condition. Day spoilt by an extremely slow society of poor golfers. Marshall apologised for the situation but his efforts to speed up play clearly fell on deaf ears.
Bar staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. The egg + bacon breakfast bap was superb.
Great course, bad condition
Played Leatherhead for the first time this year and to say it’s summer fees, it’s in winter condition. Still wet under foot in places, the greens are fluffy and slow and the fairways are shocking. Would avoid playing here for a good few months while it recovers as it’s not worth the money at the moment. Great facilities and staff but doesn’t change the course condition at the moment unfortunately.
A decent course
A good course at a good price. Was in good condition with a good pace of play.
Nice Round
The course was in nice condition it being late March and not into the growing season yet. Greens were a nice pace with evidence of aeration and top dressing recently, essential maintenance to provide better greens. Pace of play was excellent, three hours 25 for a 2 ball. The Pro was really friendly and super helpful. The course layout is fair with some really strong par 4s. Tough finishing holes. We will return.
Only13 holes in play
Paid for on golf pass, £30 per person which I thought was decent as I had never been there before and on a Sunday seemed fair for a round..
However on arrival we was told that 5 holes were not in play and no trolleys to be used.. I understand the trolleys part however I would not have played If the website had made me aware before I paid that I was paying £30 for 13 holes a bit dissapointed if Im honest and felt robbed to play under winter conditions off of mats on some holes at £30 for only 15 holes..
Not good
Played there recently course cost 30 quid for 18 holes which normaly wouldn’t be a bad price at all however what leatherhead failed to mention prior to the round that the course is only 13 holes and that it is a carry only which isn’t a issue for me but for my dad who can’t carry a bag caused an issue. Wouldn’t of minded if there was any prior notice and a lower price for a course which isn’t great in the winter
Not a winter course
Heard really good things about the leatherhead club, and was really looking forward to playing it. Tried to call to check if it was carry only because of the weather, but couldn’t get through after about 10 attempts. Checked website and saw “course open - no restrictions” perfect.
On arrival found out it was no trolleys and the first 4 holes were closed. Which was pretty frustrating as there was no mention of either anywhere. The guy in the shop had a carry bag spare which he lent us, but one of us had to to carry around a cart bag as we’d travelled too far to go back and swap them.
Course was pretty boggy, but you could tell it would be nice if it was dry. Staff were polite, and the food in the bar was good afterwards.
A true summer course only
I really love this course but only in the summer. Played it January 7th 22 and the fairways are in terrible condition and IMHO they really aren't fairways quality. We were luckily enough at start of round that we had a ground frost that made it firm, but once that gone...the mud was there.
The plus side was the greens where very good once the frost had gone...yes hard cause of the frost and funny 1st bounce but true to roll.
Overall I will definitely be returning but only in hot summer months and definitely not wet conditions
