Very wet in places. The greens were poor.
The first few holes are very similar but the course gets more interesting as you go round. Difficult to rate it as this was the end of March 24. The course was wet and boggy in places. The greens were poor. The gentleman at the professional shop was very helpful. We were unable to get a drink at the 19th hole with trainers on.
Best course in Leeds in winter conditions
Course always in really good condition and has been throughout a rough winter. Few holes closed but still managed to play 18 - no temp greens. Staff and amenities all very good
Slow Play & Rude Members
Great course, enjoyable.
However, you won't get round in under 4.5 hours due to slow play. I asked the four ball in front to speed up and they told me to get off the course if I had a problem with slow play. They had just taken 23 minutes on a par three!!!
So rude too. Members "own" the place I guess.
Told the staff I had to walk off after 8 holes (already over 2 hours) and they just shrugged shoulders as if that was the norm.
Don't print "Avoid Slow Play" on your scorecards if you don't mean it!
Won't be playing there again, I don't have 5-6 hours available per round.
Wyke, Cleckheaton, and many more others to choose from.
This is why my son and his mates think Golf is boring and will be sticking to football etc. Can't blame them can you? You could watch/play two games of football in less time than a round of golf.....
So disappointed.
Good challenging course
A few interesting holes and challenging for someone a my level. Early morning prices value for money, not sure about prices later in the day.
Disappointing
Played this coarse on and off for 40 years -the greens today were very average I’m sorry to say .
Great set up
Lovely course. Good mixture of holes. First 4 you need to be pretty accurate off the tee. Then it opens up a bit. Some good par 3's. Very friendly in the pro shop and the bar.
Cared for
After the biblical downpour over the weekend had caused the course to be closed on Sunday (a good sign that the course is cared for), we played on the Monday morning. Apart from the bunkers being treated as GUR because of remaining puddles, the course played beautifully. First few holes are similar but then it gets more interesting.
Yorkshire Gem!
Very hospitable, friendly staff.
Course in excellent condition, fantastic greens with very subtle nuances! Relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Great clubhouse to end the day. Will be returning…soon :-)
A hidden gem
Hidden away up a quiet lane is Leeds Golf Club.
The course is in great condition with lovely greens and a very interesting layout.
Seemed quiet when we played early morning and got round as a 2 ball in just under 3 hours.
The £20 fee before 0900 is fantastic value for money.
The up hill 14 & 15 holes briefly make you wish you had an electric buggy but other than that it is fairly steady.
Highly recommended course to try.
Great Course
I last played this course 18 years ago and was surprised that this venue was available at this ridiculous price.
The Professional was very friendly and helpful
The course was very good and the greens were true and quick.
We were a 2 ball and we’re invited through by 3 different groups which was a refreshing change
We chatted to a few members who were very pleasant
A great day and experience
Expected more
Nice course in good condition. I expected a slow round as the course was busy but I was pleasantly surprised with the pace. I found the pro shop well stocked but staff not that attentive. No real practice range but I guess we were in a city.
Half way house was closed which for the middle of summer at 13:30 was surprising. Toilets were locked which made it awkward for my guest (female).
Als the bar doesn’t have a spike area, there is a nice terrace but sitting there for a while nobody came to serve us.
This place whilst good could have been better very easily.
Would I go back? Probably yes
Great Value
In a City blesSed with great courses, Leeds GC might not be at the top but for value, setting and friendliness it is worth a visit.
I've played it many times but always enjoy going back.
