Lilley Brook is Tops
A most challenging course in a fantastic condition, the greens are as good as you would find anywhere at this time of the year. The tee off times are well controlled and the play progressed well. The staff were very friendly and the service was tops. I highly recommend this brilliant course.
Slow but fair
Course in good nick.
Slow 2 ball in front , they quit on 9th but then slow ladies group but was eventually let through.
Course knowledge d f needed on a few holes but course a fair challenge.
Enjoyable overall and bar staff friendly and speedy in service
Good golf course
1st time playing this course found the staff very friendly the course very nice.
Will be back for another round at some point soon.
Shame about the last 6 holes
If I wanted to climb Everest, I'd go to Nepal..... First 12 holes great, then suddenly it's just huge, poorly signposted climbs. No fun at all - especially when I ended up playing the 18th twice due to poor (non existent) signage. Shame, as everything else about the course and staff and facilities were excellent.
Good track
Upon chatting to others the course was being prepared for a pro event so a lot of work being done all over course. Tees were still on mats and a few temporary greens so a little disappointing also greens been hollowtined so not really a fair review. I think it would be in good condition in the summer
Lilly bank
What a fantastic golf course the pace of play was slow to start with as there was a competition on
The course lay out was challenging but fair and the fairways & greens in superb condition
Well worth the money
Lovely course
Lovely lovely course. Well laid out, challenging but not unplayable.
Quite heavily divioted in busy approach areas.
Highly recommend
Very nice well established.
This is a very nice well established course with undulating fairways and the majority of greens are in very nice condition. We were lucky as the four ball in front of us played at a good pace. Many only play the first 12 holes as the last six are not for the faint hearted, taking you up the hill which is more suited to a mountain goat. Overall a great course and at £20 a bit of a bargain. Would definitely recommend.
Little gem of a course!
Beautiful little course, thoroughly enjoyable to play and superb views across Gloucestershire. Has a bit of everything
Course condition
The back 9 holes were under maintenance and in very poor condition and I finished after hole 14.
This was supposed to have been a special deal from Golf Now UK.
They cheated me as I found out the Golf Club was offering reduced green fees because of the unsatisfactory condition of the course.
I will not use Golf Now UK again.
Great Place
Easy to find, great parking facilities close to first tee, easy check in. First few holes not that adventurous and resemble more of a parkland style course, but from around 11 onwards the course becomes alot more interesting and certainly more challenging.
You need to be relatively fit to make it up some of the hills if walking.
Loved the course and thoroughly enjoyed my time on it.
Pleasant course, that has improved significantly since I last played it.
Pleasant course, that has improved significantly since I last played it a few years ago. Buggy had GPS with useful flyover capability but that was not explained in the pro shop. Crossover points could be a nightmare on busy days, but for a quiet casual round they offer no problems. Locals and visitors alike need to given pitch mark repairers, green we’re good except for divots marks.
Very Enjoyable
Very good condition, a nice place to play. Be aware of a few steep climbs in the back 9 (or use a buggy). It's a wonderful view standing on the 18th tee and a very inviting tee shot.
Before our round we enjoyed a delicious hot roast roll - Sunday lunches were available if you'd booked presumably.
Friendly welcome from staff, will definitely visit again.
Lovely course could do with some tlc
I am very familiar with the course having been in a member in the past. The introduction of new ditches has added to the difficulty and hopefully improved the drainage.
The course is lovely and quite challenging in golf terms with small greens and physically with the steep hills. Some of the course seemed a bit ropey and could do with some tlc especially some of the tees and bunkers.
Would certainly recommend the course to anyone in the Summer.
Very well designed course
This course is well laid out for the space and presents a challenge with the back 9 going increasingly steeper up the hill. The club house is impressive with panoramic views out to the 3 holes that lead up to it. I will certainly be retuning as finished after the 12th, you can go right up the hill to an alternate 12th green and then onto the 13th hole onwards (much further up the hill). The 18th looks amazing as the tee off is from an elevated position with the fairway going down steeply to a green by the club house. Best course I've played in Gloucestershire so far.
Left a little disappointed
Arrived really excited to play this course as it looked great online, however it soon became clear that the course was under management as the practice green and every green on the course was sandy and a waste of time putting on as the ball bobbled and kicked when running on the greens, but I am sure the greens will be in good condition after this treatment. The course in general I found hard to grow any attachment to, as many of the holes lacked character and I found myself wondering if I had already played some holes as they weave back and forth next to each other. It was not until the 12th when things got interesting and the course swings uphill to great views of the surrounding area. My favorite two holes are probably the 17th and 18th, as the 17th has a drivable green alongside water and the elevated tee shot down to the green next to the clubhouse.
A good test of your all round game
Lilley brook is most definitely a course that if you are playing well you can shoot a good score, but if your having an off day prepare to struggle! Large trees line most fairways and the undulating greens are some of fastest I have played. Despite its difficulty, it is a beautiful course (if somewhat tiring from hole 12 onwards!) in excellent condition and one I would happily recommend.
