A Top-Ten Denver-Metro Muni Course
All around excellent golf experience from checking in to practice range to teeing off to making the turn to holing out on 18 to 19th hole to departure! Of all the Denver Metro municipal golf courses, this is at least a top 10 if not top 5 for sure. No wonder it's so tough to get a tee time!
Nice day for golf
The course is a simple one to play with just enough rough, water, and bunkers to keep one honest. Friendly staff and good conditions made for a good day to play.
Always Well Maintained
You can always expect good conditions out at Legacy Ridge, and today was no different. The fairways were lush and the greens were nice and smooth.
This course feels a little too tight for me. The front 9 in particular looks like it was jammed into the housing development surrounding it. Holes 5 and 6 seem particularly strange since they are the only 2 holes on a thumb of land just across the street from the rest of the course. It's a par 4 and a par 5, and I can't hit driver on either hole.
The 9th hole is probably the best hole on the course with a pretty dramatic downhill second shot to the green tightly guarded by a lake. The back 9 seems to open up a little more and there are holes with less houses. The 17th is a serious par 3. The course also has some pretty good views of the mountains.
The layout at Legacy Ridge takes driver out of my hands a few too many times for my taste. It just isn't my favorite style of golf, I like a more wide open setting. This is a course that requires precise shots that are not particularly long off the tee. While I may not love the course, I still find myself playing out here a few times a year.
I know many people that say Legacy Ridge is the better of the two Westminster courses. I’ll disagree, but it is still an ok track.
Cool place
Legacy Ridge is an outstanding facility. Incredibles conditions and a great staff can't wait to go back.
Tho course has very well kept fairways and greens. You have to think your way around all 18 holes.
Grounds crew does a great job of keeping the greens and fairways in very good condition.
I played it several times this past summer and it was in tip top shape every time I played there.
The staff in the pro shop and in the restaurant were very courteous and professional the food is also very good.
Legacy Ridge Staff, Amenties and Golf Course Review - Westminster, CO
Joe Carlton and his staff are an awesome staff to work with. They are professionals and their friendliness and attitude speaks for itself. The shop itself is outstanding. It carries the latest golf equipment, apparel, and they frequently match or beat golf prices elsewhere. They offer a variety of golf skill development programs - and they are reasonably priced! I just wanted to give Joe and his staff kudos to recognize their excellent commitment to provide excellent customer service and grow the game . Well done!
The course is an awesome 18-hole municipal track. Designed by Arthur Hills, it offers a Scottish links layout with varying degrees of challenges, depending on the player's golfing ability. The greens are slick but fair, so make sure to practice putting before heading out. The mountain views are breath taking - talking about a good walk spoiled! Hole 13 is the signature hole and it is a beauty - a slight dogleg left, playing downhill with the fairway slanting left. The approach shot can be quiet challenging since you will end up with a "ball above your feet," sloping downhill lie. Good luck and catch it solid. The scenery from the green on hole 15 is second to none. Be sure to take in the scenery and marvel.
I will end with the "19th hole". Make sure to stop by and take in the views with your favorite beverage and lunch. The staff is very friendly and the ambience is exceptional. What a nice way to relax and wrap up an excellent day of golf.
Great layout, challenging course
Legacy Ridge has some fantastic vistas of the Rockies and makes for a very pleasant afternoon of golf. Local knowledge is pretty important on this course as there are several pinpoint landing areas that can make a hole much easier, or add an extra stroke. Course is kept in great condition and the greens roll pretty well. They can have some tricky pin positions that seem a bit over the top, but all in all a great place to play.
Nice layout, not great service
Brought four foursomes out to Legacy Ridge last week for a Twilight Rate. Course was in good condition even with the amount of rain we got during the week. Greens rolled well and the fairways and tee boxes were well kept. Fescue is very tall and THICK.
Largest complaint was they stuffed multiple groups in between our four foursomes on the back nine because of an event taking place at the clubhouse without notifying us or sending a marshal out to allow our groups to get back into our place. Club staff was very rude while explaining why they sent people out in front of us on the back and in between all of our groups. We played the first nine in 2:10 and the back nine in 3 hours.
Pretty solid course
Nice course set on a beautiful piece of property. Layout was good but not amazing. Conditions were also good but a bit wet still from the rains last night. Only disappointing thing was that they sanded and put small holes in the greens recently. Apparently they sand the greens every couple weeks which seems a bit overkill to me but I’m not a superintendent. They must know something that all other courses don’t but hey they still rolled alright. Not the easiest of walks but definitely doable. Played it for the first time which will probably be enough for me unless someone who invites me really wants to play there. Better courses out there for the money but overall a very good course.
Fastest greens we'd played all week
We played Legacy Ridge on Day 4 of our annual Colorado Golf Binge. We found the course to be in fine condition and the greens were the fastest we'd experienced all trip.
Hole 9 is a classic. Be sure to keep your downhill approach shot to the left side of the green.
And #18 is a real challenge to avoid the trees and sand.
I saw some bike golf caddies there but didn't get a chance to ask about trying them. Next time!
Great layout and fun to play
I have played almost every course in the Denver area, but for some reason I never made it out to Legacy Ridge. I think I figured because it was a muni course that it wouldn't be very good. I was very surprised to find out how much I liked it. It is a great layout, and if you hit it straight you can score pretty good. The course was in great shape except for a few bunkers that were under repair and/or not raked. We played on a Sunday so the traps should have been raked.
