Lovely Louth
Great value for money-.played on a Saturday. I thought Lincolnshire was flat- this course certainly isn't with numerous changes in elevation. This is not a long course but tests all aspects of your game. Greens were excellent regardless of the time of year. There are a couple of internal OOBs as the whole site is quite tight. You certainly need good course management skills but there are a number of risk and reward holes. Overall a very enjoyable experience.(Handicap 3)
Do the right thing
I have played Louth many times and it is a great course. But we had had 2 days of exceptionally heavy rainfall in this part of lincolnshire before I played on the 10th Feb, and this had caused the course conditions to become very poor. Balls not only plugged on the fairways but buried themselves in the mud, resulting in lost balls on the fairways. The greens are in a terrible condition so decide to only play 9 not 18.
The course should have been shut as the Kenwick was up the road. I will come back later in the year, but you should in my opinion have shut the course.
Other courses closed
Considering kenwick was closed this course was pretty good little heavy under foot but all in all pretty good
A little wet but still enjoyed it…
Arrived in plenty of time for booked tee time. Were allowed to start straight away and never held up during the entire round. Course was very wet and greens in poor condition - not surprising due to recent weather conditions. Terrain was very hilly but not detrimental to the round. Will have no hesitation in booking again…
Great Course
This is a great course - lots of hills, well signposted “to the next hole” and laid out.
Good Course in Good condition
Very well maintained despite the current heatwave. Quite a long course with some challenging holes. Playable for all levels of golfer. Nice staff and friendly members. Highly recommended.
Worth a visit.
Haven't played the course for a few years but enjoyed the day, weather was very hot energy sapping with the hilly course I played to 5 over net off 12hc struggled with reading the greens my son did better played to his hc. Will be back to give it another go, value wise for the quality of the course, really a bargain if you go for the hot picks. Well worth the visit if you want a challenge.
The greens had not been cut for at least a couple of days big areas of green damage. Tee also had not been cut so grass very long overall condition of course was very shabby and need a lot of attention.
Fairway rough
Pretty enough course with good views and some nicely designed holes, greens were just about ok, but slow………but the fairways, my god , the fairways………I have never seen fairways with 3 inches of growth, until now. I lost 4 balls in the middle of fairways on the back nine…..just ridiculous to charge a fee.
To be fair, when I complained the club pro did offer a (pretty lame) explanation for the state of the course, and a free 4 ball as a compensation……..not a lot of use though given I live about 170 miles away and won’t be back in the area anytime soon
Not as previously experienced
Usual standard of the course is enjoyable, on this occasion was not easy to feel good round of golf was had. The course had visible signs of bad, wet weather previous. We was not warned about this before hand from anyone or staff at the course. Possibly would have seeked refund, if known condition of course before play. The grass had just been cut (while soaking wet), with lots of visible signs of grass cuttings along the drenched fairways. Very soft and squidgy under foot. Greens not as smooth and cared for as previous visits, possibly due to weather. Did not feel the £30 paid for days play was ideal situation due to unforeseen condition of the course. Battled through and tried to make best of an unforeseen bad situation. Not enjoyable this time, disappointed.
Patchy greens, soft ground, gruelling
Second time I've played this course this winter, both times the ground has been very soft across the course. I thought it would be better this week but still soft making walking a real slog. I don't understand why drainage should be a problem because the course is on high ground.
Excellent value for money
Very well considering the weather conditions of late. Played exceptionally well , being wet and boggy in places.
Greens was in great shape for time of year , staff was very friendly and helpful.
£8.99 got deal!
Would recommend for sure , looking forward to returning in the summer.
Good course
Very fun course and a challenge in places with all of the hilly terrain
Warm up nets and mats are rubbish though
