A gem of a course
Lydd is a fantastic course. Challenging with many water hazards and well-designed holes. Not easy to score well as most wayward shots are punished with several par 4 holes playing long. Described as an inland links course, and although it is not true links, it's a fair description. Lydd has a good range and catering facilities too. Amazing value and under £25.
Not for high handicappers
This is a very flat course which I thought would make it relatively easy after heavy rain but no! Nothing to do with the rain but more to do with the random water hazards that scatter the course. The par-4's were almost identical: dogleg, water and random bunkers. The design should be more imaginitative, the same gores for the par-3's.
The greens were inconsistent, some in perfect condition but others very poor. It made putting accurately impossible.. Not surprisingly being limks the roughs were unforgiving, no complaint about that.
The staff were fantastic, they met all of the Covid rules and the snacks excellent.
Take loads of balls, you'll need them.
Lydd golf
A challenging course especially in the wind and wet. Needs some good course management. Tees could be better, greens not to bad considering weather conditions we have had.
great layout
i have played lydd a good few times and its always a challenge, with water in play on a number of holes and if the wind blowing it adds to the difficulty
the tees could do with some attention but the greens are fast and reasonable for the green fee.
bring load of old balls as the roughs thick and the waters always a risk.
Great bird life
Lovely course, good greens, no hills
Lots of wild life, mainly birds, lots of water and reeds which does mean some lost balls.
Good value
Very tough in anything more than a breeze!
As the title suggests! For longer handicappers, as the 3 of us were, this is an enjoyable, but very tough challenge. Amongst the toughest of the pay and play courses down in this corner of s-e England.
The peninsula on which the course sits is reputed to have it's own wind factors, which other courses, locally, don't necessarily experience - that does seem to be the case!
In what was a strong-ish breeze, holes 12 through 15 were quite brutal and and there were some scores almost into double figures!
Water features large, on all but 4(?) of the holes, and the course designers like their little 'necks' of land which you have to negotiate on approaches to the greens.
Greens were of a mixed nature but generally good and quite quick.
Overall, a very enjoyable round in stunning surroundings.
Lydd golf
Very well presented golf course and being updated , needs a little care with bunkers need weeding but overall a great place to play golf
First time playing Lydd
We decided to play this course as it was a very good price for a lunch time tee off. On arrival it wasn’t exactly clear where the club shop now is, having found a small barred window with the pro? sitting the other side we quickly paid and went to tee off.
The Course is pretty good shape with the fairways pretty dry which is fairly standard in this area at the moment. We found the layout of the course pretty easy and we’re lucky to play on a day with not to much wind meaning the 4 of us managed to complete the round in just over 3 1/2 hours with our group consisting of a 11, 19, 24 & 26 handicapper.
As with just about all Lynx courses fairway golf is vital as the rough is pretty unforgiving and with water in play on around 11 holes I can imagine a bad day could become pretty expensive.
I would recommend playing this course but as it is about an hours drive for me I probably wouldn’t unless down this way for other reasons
As good as its Neighbour's
Beautiful course in Kent I have played Prince's and lydd is just as good
If you are in Kent Make sure you play lydd
Nice clubhouse and friendly staff the Management let me stay in the car park in my motorhome.
Beautiful course
I have played at Lydd before its a good layout and a good test of golf with plenty of water
The biggest downside is the state of the Bunkers and the Greens
Bunkers with no or very little sand with weeds a plenty
And the Greens need some TLC Asap
Off course is good lovely club house very polite staff and nice food
All in all well worth a visit
Disappointed
Played this course previously around 20 years ago and had a good experience, so was exited to go back.
The course layout is very good and a decent challenge, however the tee boxes were just bare and chewed up, as were the majority of the fairways, very little sand in the bunkers which were also hard and compressed. The greens were the worst I have played on. It was sad to see . If given lots of TLC it could be an excellent course again.
1 star for Golf now. Course was fine
I'd written a long review of the course which was on here for a while now seems Golf now have removed it without informing me.
So i'm not wirting it out again, which is annoying as A. i spent the time to write one and you would expect it to stay put and B. the course was decent.
Buy hey looks like golf now are trying to annoy customers...strange business plan.
GolfNow taking the mick
Course is fine. Played there many times. But if I book a 2-ball on GolfNow then I want to play a 2-ball. That doesn’t give the right for GolfNow to book another 2-ball at the same tee-off time to make us play as a four-ball.
Stop it. If it continues I won’t book through GolfNow again.

Good course, fair greens, perfect weather. Shame GolfNow booked us as a 3 ball when I had confirmed a two ball. Apparently they are doing this a lot these days to fill their slots! I shall now delete my GolfNow account and never use them again.
Err. Yes it does. Read the T@Cs it's quite clear that this is the case.
