Good value
This course was good value and had a nice breakfast as well so pleased all round
Old course
Good course but not to be played after significant rain as very boggy and greens had started separating. Best not played in mid winter - but good course.
always a good test of golf, easy walking, and i very good condition, greens in great shape, tee could do with a bit of tlc, overall great for the price, not a east coarse if the winds blowing, with lots of water in play.
Very good course
Excellent course in reasonable condition for the time of year & good value.
Nice place, good value for money , bar staff excellent she made us very welcome and great value food, guy in the pro shop could learn a lot from her on customer service
Fantastic day out warm, light winds, and played some tricky holes quite nicely indeed
Good course
Played Lydd many times. Stop for some food in the cafe very good value. The course has a lot of water so you need to be straight. Can be very windy by the sea but always dry under foot and greens are normally hard. Bunkers line many courses are not all in a good state of repair and can lack sand. A lot of challenging holes and with the wind many could be par 5s. Great value for money and normally easy to get a tee time.
A surprise find
The course was a very pleasant surprise, considering the green fees. The greens were superb, big but tricky. Some tight driving holes threading between the water hazards against a wind which seemed to prevail on most holes rather than assisting. We play off 7&8 handicap and found the course a good test. Overall a great day.
As a lady the facilities were basic but adequate and impeccably clean.
Good
We really enjoyed the day playing lydd the weather was fantastic. However the play was very slow and the bar was closed. Saying that I will definitely book again online with golfnow in the future...
Kind regards
Ian
Good course, greens a little patchy
Played here yesterday, excellent value for money. Only compliant is that the greens are a little patchy at the moment, some in great nick but quite a few with bare patches and a little bumpy. Hopefully will be back in a couple of months and they will be back to their normal standard
Unhelpful and rude man in pro shop
Had a golf society at the course and the guy in the pro shop was rude and dismissive.
Called prior to ask if they had markers to put out for nearest the pin and said yes but won’t put them out.
Got there on the day and asked for the markers to which he said “don’t have any, put them out for the society after yours”
Many of the people on the day said how rude the staff was.
He also tried to over charge me for the day. Wasn’t interested in helping in anyway, just set on his chair and wouldn’t even look at you.
I think the course is a good and value for money but they need to replace that member of staff ASAP!
Tough, enjoyable, but could be better
Always enjoy playing Lydd! Great course layout, always challenging conditions, and what an environment!.....but in the last few years, the greens have deteriorated - now, few, if any, provide a smooth putting surface. On several occasions, our fourball produced putts that actually bounced off the ground having been struck! I would always come back for the reasons given above - but not so frequently, when there are other (pay and play) courses in the area that look after their greens to a better standard.
Fairways were good, a lot of rough has been cut down to speed up play I’d imagine BUT the greens are absolutely awful, slow and bobbly is an understatement, if they’ want more people to play here then spend a lot more time sorting out your greens, awful

Nice layout, lots and lots of water so take a few extra balls, course was in good condition although 3/4 greens were a bit bumpy if I’m going to nit pick, loved the layout of the course with quite a few holes that made you think about things when tee-ing up, my three other playing partners had never played it before and were impressed so much so that we’ve booked up again for next Sunday.....,,
Nothing special.
First time playing this. 3 of the greens were bumpy and diseased. We had a group of 6 in front of us who did let us play through but why 6 of them? Saw numeous youths in hoodies playing.. bit rough.
