Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa - Championship Course

Wanted to play this course for some time. Greens were responsive but a little slow for me. Biggest issues was the volume of people playing, we had to wait on every shot. Too many society bookings so would recommend a late afternoon tee off, we teed off early am.

This really is a great deal on golf now.
The course is Superb , excellent condition , generous off the tee but a good test of golf .

I expected way more and much better. Course layout was nice with some lovely holes. Fair ways were nice but tees and greens a big disappointment thought it would be much nicer. A society was out before us and there pace was slow which didnt help.

Challenging course with superb views over the Cheshire countryside.

Fantastic value and a lovely course to play. Condition was very good. Hardly anyone on the course so pace of play was excellent. Hope to go back again soon.

This course is amazing really good lay out it will test your golf skills and its long course to which i thought was amazing ill be playing golf there again soon .

Course overcrowded. Ridiculously slow paced round. What has happened to golf etiquette

Course is in great condition, fast greens & immaculate fairways. Only thing that let it down was the consistent slow play at one point there was 3 groups on one hole back to back.

Played a 3 ball today ,on the Championship course in just over 3 1/2 hours,course in excellent condition .The greens were superb.

Great Course, real test, lovely quiet sunny Friday evening, perfect except for my golf!
Buggy Hire at ££35 in comparison to the good value green fees is the only thing that lets it down, bit of a rip off really but we had a great time.

Credit to all the hardworking green keepers at this magnificent course. Acknowledged a couple today, during my round, who were polite, courteous and aware of our presence whilst carrying out their course improving tasks.

Definitely a recommended place to play for any golfer who thinks they can 'play.

Impeccable conditions and true testing greens made for a memorable round today for my 3 chums and I.

A thoroughly enjoyable and challenging golf course. The greens were in great condition, very receptive. The views across Cheshire from some of the holes are stunning, some really interesting holes as well. It was great value for money as well. Look forward to when you can have a beer after the round!

We found tee boxes and greens in very good condition and the course has some really good challenging holes, especially when the wind blows, great afternoon of golf with pace of play excellent.
Would definitely play again or do a 1 night stay and play the Premier course also.
