Fun course
This is the type of course that you have to play smarter than harder and it is fun. More signage is needed to know where to go for the next tee especially for those not familiar with the layout.
Much Improved Course
Sammons is in pretty good condition. Greens roll true and the fairways and tee boxes were good. The only issue of note is the lack of signage to get you to the next tee. If you take a wrong turn after playing the 4th hole, you’ll end up at the 12th tee box. A couple of tee boxes have hanging tree limbs that could affect your shot. Other than that, a good test or golf with numerous water holes.
Great experience
What a nice, beautiful course. Exceptional!!!

Can’t say enough good things about it
Course Maintenance
The layout of course is great. The course could be managed better. No sand on most carts for divot repair. A lot of pot holes and bare spots around fairway. Cart paths are in bad shape.
Greens are doing good right now.
Excellent Greens - Good Layout - Too Crowded
The greens are some of the best in this area. The bunkers are not good IF it has rained within 2-3 days. I doubt they have a drainage system in the bunkers. They tend to be wet with thick sand or hard and easy to get bounce. You have to clip the ball which is difficult. A few courses in the area have gone downhill, so Sammons tends to be quite busy. It is not uncommon to have beginners on the weekend.
A complete 180! Wonderful conditions!
A must play, especially for the price. The course conditions are amazingly good right now. This was definitely not always the case, in terms of the conditions, but now, wow! The course superintendent has really turned that place around. A "Tip of the bill" is in order for him. The greens are rolling great, so be careful if you're above the hole. The Pro and staff are very welcoming and friendly as well. I played early, so we finished in a little over 3 hours. Give it a shot, I'm confident that you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Lots of fun/challenging
Good use of the water on the course. Kind of hard to know where the next hole was in a couple of places, Signage would have helped. Staff was friendly and the cost was great. We will be back.
Casual Sunday play
Pace was quite slow Sunday, but often is when friends and family get to the course. Played with : very good golfers—behind a 5-some. Had to wait on each hole. Impatient guys behind us almost hit a young man in my group as he was about to putt! Only thing worse that waiting to hit off each tee box is to get hit into by players behind you! We dropped out after 9. Course in nice shape. Greens good overall.
Take lots of old golf balls
It felt like there was more water than land. Very little room for error. Many water hazards were hidden. Others very unforgiving. No directions to tees. Got lost twice and had to ask how to find the next hole. It was my first time there. I guess if you played it regularly you would know how to find the tees and avoid the hazards. Take water. There is none on the course. No ball washers on the carts. I only played 7 holes because I was traveling without my golf and had nothing but new golf balls that tired of losing. If I had a bag full of old balls it might have been a fun challenge. As it was, it was my golf experience ever.
