Superb

Matlock is a great course. Beautifully maintained, Grand were excellent and it’s always a really good test. The short holes are tricky and the king par 4s very tricky. I love this course and it keeps you fit as it’s quite hilly, all told a great day out.

Excellent

Great course. It’s hilly and what with it being near enough the hottest day of the year, me and my playing partner struggled on the back 9. Still, a great course and fairways were still in good nick. Will definitely visit again!

Very enjoyable game at Matlock

We enjoyed a great day at Matlock Golf Club on Friday. The weather was beautiful as was the course and surroundings. Lots of interesting holes with plenty of variety and excellent greens. The staff and members were very welcoming and I’d have no hesitation in returning or recommending the course.

Great day out

Very safe for those worried about Covid.
Great practice facilities. 2 warm up nets, chipping area and putting green all near to clubhouse. If you like to see where your warm up shots are going there’s a 10 bay covered driving* range 3 minute walk away.

Apart from 2 longish par 4s, 438 & 424 yards each, this is a short course. There are a 3 par 5s but there all under 490 off the yellows. This is a hilly course with great views of the Peak District hills from the elevated tees. I loved the challenge of gaging the right. club and happily got it right most of the time. The greens were Med paced and very true and the fringes were easy to chip from. Also the bunkers were well raked.

I loved my round here and will definitely come back.

Get the ball in play..

Last played this course in 2016 & forgot how lovely it is.
If you get the ball in play off the tee it is fairly straightforward but If you stray you will be punished & even if you are on the short stuff the slopes make it a real challenge & the next morning you will know definitely feel the terrain in your legs!

Beautiful Course

We really enjoyed our game at Matlock
The course is well set out, greens a little slow but we had an awful lot of rain the day before so fully understandable.

The course drains well with relatively little standing water.

The local scenery is stunning and made the game a real pleasure.

Club house, food and staff hospitality were all excellent.

We will go back to play again

Challenging

Fantastic views from well maintained course. I was expecting rolling Derbyshire hills but by 12 they felt like Himalayan foothills! We were tired but happy golfers by the 18th. Don’t forget to ask for the code to exit the car park!!

Matlock Golf Club

Went back to Matlock with 3 friends, after it being over 30 years since I played there in a Society day.
A long way for us to travel but the course was stunning.
I told my friends that I remember it being ok 30 years ago but it has been improved no end.
A lovely layout over beautiful countryside. Some of the holes were incredible.
The greens were like snooker tables.
The food and the service were great too.
We will be back.

Fair Round

Cold, but dry and bright morning. Pro told me full greens were in play and 16 were, after earlier frost.
Course in decent condition for November.Unfortunately, 2 players repeatedly teed off before we were out of range, which ruined what would have been an enjoyable round. We got round in just over 3 hours, so could not be accused of slow play. Try this course for a good test of golf.

Lovely views in a nice layout

The course was in good condition and the greens were great, especially during this dry weather we have been having. The views were very nice from almost any part of the course. There were many memorable holes although some of these were due to the slopes and hills. If you struggle a little with hard walking, I would suggest booking a buggy. I feel using a buggy would make the round so much more rewarding.

Extremely picturesque location

One has to really give much thought to each shot, with club selection being of paramount importance. Although not a long course, anyone scoring low here will have truly earned their post-round drink! It is unlike, any other course I have played, which makes it worth a visit, but beginners will find it extremely tough!
