A gem in the West Midlands countryside
Maxstoke is a lovely parkland course set in delightful green countryside and was in excellent condition. The fairways are reasonably generous, but stray off line and the beautiful old trees will cause you problems. There are also just enough penalty areas to make you think before pulling driver on all the par 4’s. The greens were rolling very true if slightly slow but this was maybe due to the recent addition of some renovation and fertiliser addition. Water in front and the old castle behind the 17th green will force you to focus all your attention on the shot in hand which will require your best drive of the day and a long shot to carry the pond immediately in front of the green. A slightly missed tee shot will require a lay up before a tricky up and down to save par. No shame in making a 5 here. This is followed by a stern finishing hole with more water guarding the left side of the fairway which is the preferred angle in to the green. Finish your round 4, 4 and your drink on the lovely patio area overlooking the 18th will taste very sweet indeed.
Course was in very good condition even with the bad weather we have had, will definitely look at booking again.
Maxstoke park
Great course. Greens were exceptional considering the dry weather. Fairways have been ravaged by the heat and the nationwide ban on watering. But this is not the courses fault. Can’t wait to return in a month or so when the grass has recovered.
Great course
Always enjoy playing Maxstoke - greens in superb condition
Maxstoke. Park
A pleasure to play , greens were very good and whole course was fantastic
Excellent and tough
Always a pleasure playing here. Non members are always welcomed, people are very friendly. Course was tough when it’s wet, and makes it more challenging but the greens are immaculate as always. Busy course but the 19th hole is brilliant. Definitely one of my favourite courses.
Tee off times through golf now are not great but price is decent and you would struggle to get a round in without them.
Greens excellent
Course in great condition, pace of play not great but it was a beautiful afternoon.
What a gem!
What a gem of a course. Picturesque, fantastic greens and challenging
Condition
Course in very good condition, greens excellent although firm to chip onto. Pace of play was really good.
Greens excellent
Overall this course was in very good condition. The greens were excellent and quite quick if you got above the hole, they held their line well. Some short par 4s where strategy plays a part, a couple of short par 5s gave chances to make birdie.
Greens quick
Condition of the whole course was very good, greens quick for this time of year.
Stoked!!!
Great course,Great layout
Fantastic greens and fairways, very challenging for al littoral of golfers
First time here, won’t be the last. A lovely gem hidden away. Friendly atmosphere, staff were very welcoming, especially the young lady who waited until we finished our drinks before locking up (we didn’t realise she was waiting for us). Definitely coming back asap and most probably on a regular basis!
Lovely course
Enjoyed our day here. Well laid out course with greens in very good condition. Flat but not boring. Nice clubhouse faculties
Shame about the flies
We played this course on a Saturday afternoon and the course was very quiet so no hold ups, the course is in very good condition considering the recent wet weather, there were a few boggy patches, the greens were excellent, there is some GUR in front a couple of greens. The biggest problems was flies buzzing around our heads right from the first tee all the way round and even the players behind us asked what was going on with the flies!
This is the third time I have played this course and cannot remember the flies being a problem before so it could be down to farmers spreading manure on adjacent fields.
Good round of golf.
Course condition very good, greens superb. Mature with a good variety of 3, 4 and 5 par holes.
Would definitely recommend.
Good condition considering recent weather.
Good condition considering recent wet weather. Nice course layout.
