Fantastic course
Not played this course for over 4 years and wow, what a change! Fantastic course and the greens were in great condition. Will definitely be returning!
dont waste your money
the couse is in shocking condition , every green is soaking wet , even muddy in places . fairways are waterlogged and round the greens are a mudbath . this course needs closing otherwise the damage wont be repairable . they did a lot of good work last year , if it isn't closed now that will be a waste of time . DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Course not fit
Played mid afternoon on the 15/3 .after booking in at the pro shop and not getting any indication from the person who booked me in about the course condition.got to the first temporary tee to be greeted with a group walking off after a couple of holes saying the course should not be open.after playing a few holes I had to agree with them.the greens waterlogged temporary greens just a flag in the fairway. Fairways mud heaps
More interesting from 13th
Course very flat good drive and this course is done for !! Greens were in excellent condition for January fairways likewise found from 13th onwards more challenging but again if you can do 200 off tee course gives up !!
Unplayable ground conditions. Course should be closed
Really disappointed with the club. The course is unplayable. Even hitting the fairway the ground is so soft your ball gets completely submerged, that if you are lucky enough to avoid the puddles that cover 90% fairways. We played the first 6 holes and called it a day.
We picked here because the green fees where much higher then the other courses, we assumed this was down to the course being highly maintained. That was not the case.
I would not recommend playing this course if it has rained or the ground is soft.
At £25 a person this is poor value for money, and other local course are much cheaper and in better condition, alerton being prime example.
This is playing more like a £10 per person round, and I expect the course to refund my fee.
Mersey Valley 15th December
Played the course quite a few times this year and the staff’s hard work is really starting to pay off.The lay out is really good and considering the weather the course played well with the greens especially having improved since the summer.
Staff are great and the food and drink are decent and well priced.
We payed £13 each which for a Saturday morning you can’t really go go wrong with.
I would definitely recommend this course.
Slow play
Unfortunately we played on captains day behind a three ball on two occasions they could have let us play through but it never happened. It took myself and partner four and a half hours to get round, The course was in better condition than the last time we played due to the rain we had the previous week a few greens could be better but I think it is due to the weather. Will definitely play again.
Diabolical greens
car park was full, even cars parked on the grass. Course played very well EXCEPT oned thing. The greens were the WORST i have played on in the last ten years. Apart from that i would have given a 5 star rating but until greens are sorted I will not be back. So disappointed that I could not trust a two foot putt to go straight that we basically had a two putt gimme as sonn as we were on the green. Oh well. Hope it gets sorted by next year
nice layout
arrived early and allowed to play. Fairways very hard due to the recent hot weather and no rain. Greens were in really poor condition, not that different from the fairways. Very bare and bumpy in need of some serious attention. Would not play here again, £10.00 would be too much. P.A.Jones.
Room for improvement
Played a few months ago for the first time and gave up in the rain as the course, especially the greens were waterlogged. Today weather conditions were perfect The greens including the practice green were appalling. Lots of bald patches covered in moss, very uneven and the golf ball bobbling off it's line. The staff are very friendly and a nice clubhouse the price was a twilight offer at a reasonable £12.50, however I would rather pay a little more for a a better quality game. I will return if the some effort is made to improve the the course especially the greens.
Greens awful
Greens were full of moss, very uneven, and as a result every putt bobbled significantly. Worst I've ever played on.
What a shame
What a shame it is that in the building of new tee boxes (that make the course a real challenge in some holes) the other parts of the course particularly the greens have been neglected
The fairways were poor to average at best
The bunkers absolutely atrocious (very little sand and lots of gravel)
Yellow tee boxes were uneven and unkempt on most holes
And the greens were awful patchy fluffy and sandy at the same time???
A shame as if the rest of the course was in the same condition as the brand new back comp tees it would be an amazing course
Friendly staff
Reasonably easy course ,not the best greens and best not get in the bunkers but good value for money and excellent facilities.
Improved Course
Now the very wet winter weather appears to have left us, this course is improving by the day. Continued improvement programme has/is taking what was a quite underwhelming layout and added a considerable amount of character.
As fairways dry and firm and grass thickens the playing conditions for the summer will be perfect, greens are generous and coming up to decent condition. Good course for the coming summer months.
Poor at best.
On the hottest day of the year so far, I booked this for myself and a friend as a 'Hot Deal'.
The courses overall condition tee to green was poor at best, grass cuttings all over the fairways along with tyre tracks and boggy areas. I have played multiple other courses over the last week around Merseyside and none were as wet as Mersey Valley.
The worst part of the round was the greens, probably the worst greens I have played on in a long time. Bobbly and uneven, with pitch marks dug in - something I would expect of a municipal course. It looks like the green keepers have given up looking after the greens as in areas there is rolled mud next to where the flag has been cut.
Tee boxes were uneven and heavily used without being repaired.
The only positive aspect of the course was the bunkers..
I would avoid this course and play at other courses in the local area. Will 100% not be playing this course again.
