Can’t wait to play in summer
Chose to play the course and after a downpour so expected it to be wet, didn’t realise it was greens maintenance week so the greens were heavily sanded which kind of impacted the playing experience. Think Golf now could do better here as when I checked the club website this was clearly stated but nothing on Golfnow.
However the course is a lovely set up with some class holes.
Definitely one for a trolley or buggy if not physically fit as it’s a good walk. Will be back in better weather
Best course to play in January
Played end of January. Course played like it was summer. It’s a top class course with some beautiful holes. Highly recommend in summer or winter
We played this course over the Christmas period for the first time and wasn’t disappointed .a challenging course with a great layout.tee boxes and greens in great condition for this time of year! The pro shop and green keepers were very friendly! Will definitely be going back in the summer.
Great course
The course is quite hilly so i recommend getting a buggy for this course, other than that fairways hood and greens very well kept
Moor Allerton G C
Course in very good condition, the greens were quite fast could have been a bit smoother but overall very good. The food was very good with good service, overall good day out with good value for money will play the course again.
New course to us.
We loved the course lay out,
Some really tricky holes,as a good golf should have.
But I was disappointed about by how muddy the course was, from a downpour two days earlier.
As a different course we played the day after the rain, had held up much better.
This is a great course though, best played after a few dry days.
Great course - soggy day
I really enjoyed playing Moor Allerton, it was a dry day but unfortunately the previous few days had meant it was saturated and extremely boggy.
Would definitely recommend during drier months.
Great Greens
After 4 days of rain we played on a dry day and found the fairways surprisingly not as wet as we thought. Greens were challenging with pin positions. Drainage on the greens must be very good. Even in February they play very fast. I will definitely bring my electric trolly next time as it’s quite hilly.
Overall 8.5/10 for course conditions.
Bigger than life
A beautiful well cared for golf course. Had a great front nine scoring 21 points stableford then mother nature decided to make difficult the back nine. The wind stronger, then rain, then hailstones which finally got the better of me. I managed to score against the elements 15pts stableford which is below handicap but felt a wonderous battle had been won. The greens are spectacular for the time of year, and the nineteenth hole even better. Roast beef and onions in a baguette with chunky chips was most welcome with a decaff capachino for the reward for a tough encounter was most welcoming and appreciated. I really enjoyed a tough test of golf on the best iconic, historic golf course in Yorkshire. Well done to all concerned with making this experience memorable against mother nature at her worst.
Great course and deal
Really great round...only 4 other golfers on the course! Excellent greens and very enjoyable.
