summer play
we played the course on probably the hottest afternoon of the year. there were very few golfers on the course.
the course is long and challenging but quite open.
Enjoyed playing this course, It played much shorter than I would expect in normal conditions. Months without rain so it played quickly as the surface was like concrete, greens were well kept.
Will play again when it turns green
Lovely course shame about the attitude of shop staff!
Played this course for the first time as recommended by a friend, the course and staff in the bar were great, however I found the male staff member in the pro shop to be rude and obnoxious. It was like everything was too much effort for him and when I stop a trolley which had been left outside with the battery connected from rolling away he came storming out of the shop with his smart mouth shooting off!! He's quite lucky I have a high tolerance level for his type. I will not be returning any time soon.
Good course but needs some serious TLC
The course has a good variety of holes and which makes club selection important. However, the course itself could do with some improvements in terms of condition. Greens were like putting on my front lawn! But I did enjoy the course
Good course but needs some rain
First time here. It's located within the Moors Valley Country Park which charges for parking, however when you check in with the Golf Shop, make sure they have your vehicle registration and then you will be able to leave without charge. I arrived early and so went to the bar for some breakfast, the "all day breakfast" was a reasonable £6.50 including a hot drink. I was able to tee off 10 minutes early. The course is clearly in need of some rain, most of the fairways were brown but the greens were in decent shape. The flow of the holes is good and quite varied, generally pretty flat. I will return later in the year when the fairways have hopefully recovered.
This course has plenty to challenge the average golfer
Had a great day ,the course was a bit on the dry side due to lack of rain. We were very pleased with all other aspects of the Golf Course.
Excellent value for money golf
A beautiful setting - tree lined fairways and occasional water.
In good condition - greens very nice and generally well
Maintained.
Absolutely lovely surroundings.
Amazing value for money.
Will keep on returning!
Interesting layout, challenging holes, useable by all levels of skill.
A real pleasure to play.
Enjoyed the course, there was plenty of holes on route
to keep you focused. The course was in good condition and no hold ups in the pace of place.
Will be back.soon.
Great for all levels
Played as a two ball, when we arrived we were met by the staff who were very helpful and allowed us to go out early.
The course is well maintained and easy to follow the lay out with good signage. The course is set within a country part with lots of family activities but this doesn't disturb your game.
Looking forward to returning next year
Good challenge
Always enjoy moors valley, nice set up, good condition and although 'getable' it can bite too. The 3 consecutive long holes on the front can make or break. Usually better played early or late as can get a little slow but 20 quid or so is great value. Be cautious off season as can be a bit quick to go to temp greens so worth a call beforehand. Only down side is that the bar can shut early and deny you that well earned pint!
Pace of play, pub
Lovely place, course and staff, but a pity that slow play spoils the pleasure. A course Marshall would be a great help if he could speed up the play and tell people to follow etiquette, let faster players go through or pick up the ball and stop surching for a lost ball after 10 minutes. Very painful to watch, especially sturbon players.
Very friendly staff in the pub and a pleasure to visit.
A nice course.
It is a nice course, mostly flat parkland, with a couple of long challenging holes. Fairways are reasonably lush and the greens are quite good. Good value for money. Facilities are fairly basic but the staff were very friendly. One of my preferred local courses.
Don't be in a hurry!!
Although the course was in good condition and the greens running true the pace of play was as slow as I've ever experienced on a golf course. After 7 holes we had been playing for over 2 hours. At this point we called the club shop to see if they could send a Marshall round but they were short staffed (Sunday) and all they could say was we should have been in the 12th by then!!! To top it all off it started raining while waiting on the 16th tee while thinking we should have been in the bar by then!!
Good course
Nice course in good condition. Most members leave after 11 holes as near the clubhouse. A lot trickier than it looks from the tee box with some well placed hazards. Worth a visit if in Dorset.
well kept course
Good tees good fairways good greens
top course
Downside some days slow play
Nice course, friendly people
Grass cutting interrupted play a little. Some players were a little slow. Overall, however, a nice course for a relative beginner like me. Staff and other players were all very helpful and friendly. Not at all "snooty" like some clubs.
