Green as grass

A really well presented well kept course with plenty of challenges to keep you thinking, the only downside is that the halfway house was closed

Great Course

This was a bit of a challenge, but not off-putting. The course was in excellent condition. I would certainly play again and recommend to family and friends.

Nice course, not easy, good condition, greens very true

Enjoyed the course, booked through golf now but no one in the pro shop when we turned up so just went on.. Course very quiet, good condition, greens run true but some are quick, some slow, half way house very welcome...

mixed opinions

great clubhouse and general presentation with nice water features, greens were in good condition but the fairways were a bit disappointing due to the corse grass type and the tee boxes were a bit uneven.
a member of the public walking across the course picked my ball up, then returned it when challenged.
Which was a first for me!
my playing partners ball also mysteriously disappeared from the middle of the 1st fairway

Very good all considered

Played this course before and knew the layout. One of our party is not the fittest and due to hot weather and some stiff inclines ahead, especially the last few holes, availability of a buggy would have made it much more enjoyable. Unfortunately they only had Four available and were all pre booked for a society outing. A few more buggies would speed up play and help out the less able

Snail pace

The pace of play was abysmal, there was a mixed competition in progress. There was a two ball before us, we were a two ball also and had to wait every hole at least up to 10 minutes. The two ball before me left after 9 holes, we played till hole 13 then skipped to 18. For 14 holes it took 4 hours and 15 minutes, if we had continued the full round we would have been looking at over 5 hours for a round. Unbelievable Jeff

Really interesting course

Really enjoyed playing here. Every hole is interesting and some cracking views. Course is in great condition.

Garry in the Pro Shop was really accomodating. I'd booked a hot deal for 2 on Golf, not not realising you get paired up with 2 randoms. I had a mate who wanted to play at the last minute and he managed to fit us in at a slightly earlier time.

Highly recommend and I will be back soon

Slow play

Course was in good condition. Great value for money. Unfortunately on this occasion play was very slow. Four ball in front of our three ball lost group in front early on but would not let our three ball through. Spoilt the experience to be honest

Whats happened to the greens?

I play normanton a few times a year. First time playing this year. Bunkers werent in a good condition and most of the greens looked like a tractor had rolles over them.
Great fun course to play buy condition of the greens was abit of a let down.

Greens had been spiked so was bit of a lottery but course in general was good. Having an enjoyable round until we came to the short par 3 10th hole. (Newly built halfway house.) This is where it all became a bit of a farce. 4 groups waiting to tee off before our 3 ball. People using the halfway house and creating a huge backlog. No etiquette being used at all. By the time we got to tee off one of our 3 ball left aving waited over 20 mins to tee off. Surely there should a course Marshall to to keep some kind of order. Just spoilt what had been an enjoyable round. Altho I like this course I would seriously think twice about going again. Big thank you to the club pro as I left my 7 iron by the side of the 12th green and it had been handed to a member 7 holes behind us by the group behind us. He let me go out in a buggy to retrieve it as I couldn't wait around long enough to get it. Very nice gesture and very polite guy. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Our course maintenance - hollow coring is essential to preparing the course for the summer and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We have taken on board the issue you raised on the backlog due to people using the Halfway facility, going forward a Marshall is something the club are now looking into on busy days .

Once again thank you for taking the time to write this review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Normanton Golf Club.
