Nice course, expensive clubhouse!

Course was in good condition despite all the rain lately. We played holes 1 to 9 then 19 to 27, holes 10 to 18 were closed for work by green staff. Greens were very good on 1 to 9, good paced and true but 19 to 27 had been hollow tined so were a bit slower and bumpier, but still ok. The course is a good challenge with some tricky to reach greens well protected by bunkers and water in places, as well as changes in elevation.
After our round we went into the bar as we usually do, to sample the food and the beer and this was the most disappointing part of the day. A pint of Peroni lager and a bitter shandy was £10.50! We looked at the food menu, sausage sandwich, (£3/ £3.50 in most clubs) £5 but only served until 11am. Egg mayo or ham sandwich £6/£7 so decided not to bother and instead asked for 2 bags of crisps which were £2 a bag. £14.50 for 2 pints and 2 bags of crisps!
There were quite a good few people out on the course but only about 6 people in the bar and they were drinking tea!

Will go back and play the course again but avoid the bar!

Excellent course, really good value.

Played a two ball with a friend, both though this was really good value. So much that on return, I was straight online and book again for next week.

The first nine holes we played were built around the lovely Oulton Hall hotel

The fairways were a bit rough in parts and the greens contained lots of pitch marks that had not been repaired. Also it is a 27 hole course and I thought the sign posting for each 9 could have been better

day off wanted a game at a different course within 45 mins of where I live. Hot deal couldn't go wrong £12 round less than £1 a hole.. Nice condition considering dry , hot , summer. Greens as on previous visit very good. Enjoyed the round slow back nine as followed some a think beginners well at times couldn't hit the ball when they did went side ways...

Very nice

Course very nice, extremely hard but greens were still excellent. Disappointing that the bunkers lacked sand so were near impossible to get out of.

Challenging but enjoyable

Excellent course. Played 1-18 (there are 27 holes) plenty of variation to please both high and low handicap. Unforgiving rough but plenty of fairway to avoid this! A most enjoyable experience.

Everything overpriced

I Have played this course several times it use to be a municipal course but the council sold it to the hotel group so they might call it a championship course but it is not, the condition is average and way overpriced unless you go through teeofftimes,I required a buggy which cost £35 I only found this out when I turned up last year they where £20 quite an increase.the last 3 times Ive played here is through teeofftimes they always start you on holes 19-27 then you do 1-9,from coming off the 27th hole to teeing off on the 1st must be 3/4 of a mile walk so I hope your fit plus holes 19-27 are a add on and not part of the so called championship course. There are plenty of better courses in the region try one off them.

Great

Despite recent weather we found the course in top top condition. Plenty of staff on the course keeping the course remarkably well on full tees and full greens. Definite return soon.

Excellent winter course conditions

Course was in great condition for this time of year. From the tee to green on all holes was superb. Keep out of rough which was covered in leafs and is to be expected of a parkland course in winter.
First time played and will definetly return. Only disappointment was we were a two ball and round took over 4 hours due to hackers in front who spent ages looking for balls in rough on every hole.

Leaf it out!!!

Course in really good condition... only criticism would be the volume of leaves lying in the rough. We lost too many balls and too much time spent looking for balls due to the coverage of leaves. Other than that the course was in good nick

A Pleasurable Day

On arrival we were met by very friendly staff in the clubhouse,
We actually played the back 9 first due to congestion at the first tee, which wasnt a problem,we were very surprised at the condition of the course,it was excellent,no complaints what so ever.
We will definitely be coming back again,

No organisation

We were put on holes 19/27 and 1/9 the distance between some tee boxes after greens were ridiculous, then when you had to play 1/9 you had to walk half a mile to tee box and a cue as they were too interested in taking bank hol money
