Three holes closed, just the time of year. It's a mixed bag, some great holes and some stinking holes. Much better than some average courses.

If your just starting playing the game than avoid. Anyone with half solid technique, worth a visit.

A little wet under foot but no standing puddles. Course was in excellent condition and the bar is lovely with great guiness

This was how one of the members described it to me. The course is great for 6 or 7 holes (the par 5 7th is great fun) but then really falls away. We were not told the 12th is a temporary green or that many of the bunkers were being excavated and were out of play. The course is undergoing major excavation works on the back 9 which we were not told about before paying over £50 to play. I think this should have been communicated in advance and the course certainly shouldn’t be full price. Wasn’t what I was expecting and think it’s out of order not to tell visitors about the ongoing works. Sure the course will be great once the works are done but disappointed with our visit.

Loved the course great variety of holes. Some work is being carried out on the course but didn’t impact enjoyment. Only negative number of 4 balls on course after 16:30. Should limit late tee times to 3 balls as slow going last few holes

I missed the message on the club website that 6 holes, are now closed as under reconstruction. ( no.s 6 to 11 inclusive.) This perhaps explains previous posts complaining about some poor holes.
Of the holes open, the course was in great condition, and the greens were FANTASTIC !!!
So, over the winter of 2022/23 it is a 12-hole course and priced accordingly. I can't wait to play all 18 holes in 2023.

Pleasington has been on my 'to play' list for a while now but I was slightly reluctant due to the, fairly, high price and negative reviews which I had read. However, I now regret not playing it sooner. The course is fantastic. The greens were immaculate, some of the scenery (especially on the front 9) was breathtaking and the layout provided a fun yet challenging test of golf. Other than the fact that I played the first 5 holes like someone who'd never swung a golf club before, I'm struggling to think of anything negative to say. I'll definitely play it again and, now I know the course somewhat, hopefully I'll play a little bit better. Ignore the misleading 3 star rating., this is a top class course.

Played here yesterday and to be honest was a little worried due to the 3 star reviews on here.... However...... What a golf course, some of the back drops to the holes are unbelievable. There isn't a bad hole on the course enjoyed playing every single one of them. The 7th is certainly up there with one of the best I've played the two tier fairway is something I've never seen before. The course was in great condition, greens ran smooth not a bobble or even a pitch mark in site.

Only issue was that there were only 15 holes open, 3 were under repair due to course changes, didn’t find out until we arrived, course was nice and in good condition, no temp greens as yet but you could see where they are going to put them, some temp tees ( mats ) not ideal. Have to play from mats on the fairway or move the ball into the second cut of rough. Got lost trying to find the 14th tee, followed the signs for the yellows as opposed to the ladies, had to ask someone and they pointed us to the ladies, which is where tie yellows were, bit misleading and a waste of 10 mins.
Would like to play this course in the spring and a full 18, missing a par 3 and 2 par 5’s at the moment.

This week has been absolutely dreadful leading up to my round, I honestly don't think it stopped raining. Fully expecting the course to be waterlogged and unplayable I put on my water proofs and headed down for my tee off at 8am, to my surprise the course truly was in brilliant condition considering the weather and I had a great round. The course also has Excellent practice facilities, including a chipping area, driving range, practice green and nets. Not only would will I be playing again this is a club I am genuinely considering joining.

This course used to be absolutely amazing and always in pristine condition. Unfortunately is has gone down hill severely. The club seems to be concentrating on big ideas without getting the basics right. Walkways turned to mud near greens and tees. Shabby bunkers and that is aimed at the new ones that have been redesigned, There was nothing wrong with the old bunker design and shape, they just need have the sand changed and drains updating, this is due to the wash off the face contaminating the sand over years and years. The new design has created a whole load more work for the hard working Greens staff whom could be working on the finer aspects of maintenance.
The greens are in the worst condition I have ever seen them, the best green is the practice pitching green, this is the one with the least of the maintenance,
The agronomist and architect appear to be slowly changing the course for the worse, to many cooks spoil the broth.
Certain members have appeared to have lowered their etiquette, One member was literally walking around the wrong way up holes near 16, 17 and 4, Playing 3 balls,
This was the best inland course in the northwest in my humble opinion, I’m afraid it needs to become good again before they try to make an attempt to become great.

Arrived to find only 15 holes were open. Wasn’t displayed on golf now or on pleasington website. Course was very wet underfoot, doesn’t hold up too well in the wet.

the course and facilities are superb and the staff ect are excellent and welcoming. however as non members we felt a little rushed for the majority of the round with members taking shots before we had finished on the green and then standing waiting right behind you on the tee even though we couldn't play due to people in front. this happened on a number of occasions.
spoilt the enjoyment of what should have been a lovely day on a superb course.

Pleasington is a wonderful golf course at any time, but it is in great condition at the moment. The Greens are tricky and slick but a wonderful surface to putt on. The weather was Autumnal, the staff were friendly and a great day was had.

The Open Regional Qualifiers will not be rushing back!

What has happened to such a wonderful course that played so well no matter the weather. It was the go too course yet even after a long dry spell and then some rain, the greens are still slow and a bit bobbly at this time of year? You can accept slower greens if they run truer than perfect, but to have them bobbly from even 8-10 feet on one occasion is unacceptable. Anything over 25 feet is bobbling and difficult to adjust to after playing Longridge.

Yes Longridge. They charge £12.50 per round so I played a few rounds to get used to the British conditions, only to go play Pleasington at £45 per round and have a worse playing surface. Sure the holes are better but it’s not (just) a walk. I want to test myself before going to Fairhaven, then Carnoustie.

I feel I have wasted this day and played two at Fairhaven as it held the Open Qualies and although not a better golf course, far superior and ahead in terms of playability and condition. Almost as good as what Pleasington used to be when I played in the early 2000’s in tournaments. Always played so true and lies were always fair, bunkers, fairways, rough. Now, it seamed to be a lottery. Very sad as I was really looking forward to playing an old favourite.

I cannot recommend at the price and condition to anyone but rich mid/high handicappers who aren’t as serious about the golf. That was the point of Pleasington though, you payed extra, not for views, Longridge, or layout, Duxbury Park or Manchester GC. It was the championship level of quality when the ball reacts as it’s supposed to because it’s been maintained for golf, not just to look pretty. A low handicappers course where high handicappers could still play as it’s not long but needs thinking around.

My contacts around who have played all are in similar despair! Please, Pleasington...get it back to what it was 10-15 years ago. Don’t waste a gem. The course was pretty empty for a sunny Sunday in August. Thought it would have been backed up and when it wasn’t, that was my first clue to the disappointment. If you did it just ten years ago, why not do the same as then? Just get out the old plans and follow them.

If the Course Superintendent has retired, beg him to consult. Lancashire doesn’t have top rate inland courses. Some well maintained ordinary ones, plenty, but top bracket (although lower top bracket- 77 in golf monthly around 2000 in the U.K. ‘s 5000 courses.

Low handicappers, let it be known or else all inland Lancashire will miss out as people come to play Pleasington and play Wilpshire or Clitheroe too. Now they’ll just stick to the coast. Sad miss. But within the clubs power to bring it back to a real diamond again.

Great day at this challenging course - course was running fast and greens were very good. There are some amazing views and some great holes. Pace of play was good given it's not an easy track. Would deff go back again. Nice pint afterwards as well!

Surprisingly this is a past open qualifying venue but for some reason the past 2 times I have been the greens have been really bobbly and inconsistent. The bunkers looked like they have just been forgot about which is not how they should be maintained. The drainage is another issue aswel. Very surprised to be honest I bet the members are really annoyed at the price they have to pay aswel. The only good thing is the layout this could be a really good course with proper work done to it. Also range was shut when I went so only had a net to hit a couple of shots into.

A tee of time 4.5 hours before dark should be sufficient to have a fairly successful knock about. Alas, the pace of play was not great- while a few groups let this single golfer through, a youth and an adult pair were unaware of the etiquette clearly- searching for balls, waiting for greens to be cleared on par 5 when it was quite obvious they were not able to reach them. Mercifully the 2nd half of the round sped up, and a few more courteous players allowed me to stroll down the 18th in approximately the direction I think my shot went, as the light was very poor.

I wonder if Pleasington have considered a twilight rate!

Otherwise usual nice things to say- course in decent nick, greens a little better than previous visit, bunkers still poor. Tried the top fairway on 7 this time- the 'window' in the trees really helps the line- a good mid iron does the trick.

Greens very soft due to rain the previous evening and the morning of this late afternoon round. Some people clearly well rehearsed in repairing their pitch marks, unfortunately.

The course wasn't massively busy, but playing a one-ball does mean it is easy to catch the group ahead, who generously let me through immediately.

The course is not in bad nick, except unnoticed bunkers which i think have drainage problems as they never seem to be remotely dry.

Great 4ball day out.Course in great condition and very testing with the wind blowing hard.A must for all golfers.

Well laid out course with varying types of interesting hole. Beautiful setting. Hilly in places so a good walk. Greens not as fast as I would have expected for a top course. Challenging course for the average golfer. Difficult par 3 holes.
