Needs some TLC
The course could be one of the best around. The setting is great, the holes are well laid out, good variety and fairly challenging. Good mix of par 3's, 4's and 5's. The real problem is the ground keeping. The rough is as expected but the fairways need attention and some would be the rough on other courses. The bunkers are lacking in sand and the greens are slow and uneven. It is a crying shame but this is reflected in the price of a round I guess.
Lovely course
Played course after 18 months and must say it's such a lovely course and have missed it and will play next week .
Definitely recommend
Good course
Played on a great sunny day after some terrible weather the past few weeks, it was in good shape and one or two tees were moved as to preserve them, but overall the course played well. Would definitely recommend to anyone
Only 11 holes open!
Very disappointed that I wasn’t informed about the course only being open on 11 holes. I called the pro shop and asked about course condition before I booked online and was told that there was no issues and wouldn’t need winter wheels, but no mention of the closure of 12 through to 18! It wasn’t even mentioned in the pro shop when we arrived! Then to add insult to injury, we (a 2 ball) were stuck behind a four ball of members (playing off the whites) from the 1st tee all the way to the 9th where they walked off. Overall a very disappointing experience! Had I been informed I would not have booked and traveled the 70 miles round trip! Shame because I have played the course before and had a great day.
7 holes closed
Only 11 holes played but paid for full round. Wasn’t informed at reception of the hole closure is so would of cancelled and played at a later date
Course Fees Complaint
We love the course, which have played many times previously. however I made a complaint regarding the excessive 'rip-off' charges for your golf course; 3rd Jan.
I attempted to book a,11:48 tee time, via golfnow web @ cost of £15.99 ea. - X3 players.
However, i had problems with booking so called up the course to book via telephone, which was confirmed.
Me & my 2 brothers turned up to play and pay, only to be advised it was £25 each. I explained issue but was told it would be £25. This is a scandalous way to treat visitors and if i hadnt travelled over 70 miles to play, then i would have walked away.
The management should be ashamed treating customers in this way.
No response or apology ever received
Disappointing
Had heard good things about Priors Hall, but having visited for the first time today I left disappointed. Whilst the course has a good layout and is probably a good course for the summer I found the lack of info from the pro shop disappointing. The 1st hole was shut(not informed of this on check in) which was a shame as ghis is an attractive hole with an elevated T and the signage between T's was poor. Many t areas were roped off and the winter t's were not obviously placed. The greens were good although, due to being a hilly course, there was quite a bit of course damage due to battery buggy use. I will return but probably not until next summer.
Thank Heavens for Priors Hall
A most entertaining round. Really enjoyed the course.
Enjoyable old faithful
Having played this course over many years, I have to say that the layout is just superb. A course that is a real good test of anyones golf and one of the best courses in Northamptonshire. Now back in the local councils hands, it is being run more efficiently than on the past and care taken throughout. Some improvements have been made and I hope this strategy continues in the future.
The course still has some difficulties as in the past for example, the bunkers are all a little sparse of sand and continues to be the case. The greens on the other hand were superb, quick and maintained well.
Go and pay it a visit sometime, you won’t regret it.
I’ll certainly go back and soon hopefully.
