Pleasant course to play
The greens were not in great conditions at the moment - they seemed to have been recovering from punching. Otherwise a pleasant course, relatively flat and wide fairways. Lot of airplanes as close to heathrow
Great day out
Nice people, members very friendly.. look forward to come again, and better my score.. thanks to all the staff..
Tee to green ok. Greens shocking
I know it is early season but the greens resembled more what a farmer would prepare. Shame because as a course it is an early season joy being wide and a bit forgiving. Staff were really friendly
Lots of OB / greens were recently tined
Reasonably picturesque course but IMHO marred by way too much OB, due to the amount of ‘protected environment’ areas.
Am sure the greens could be decent but they’d been tined a few weeks previously so it wasn’t much fun to putt on a bobbly surface.
Great Layout, Friendly Staff
Great layout, friendly staff only problem was the greens were terrible as it had been heavily spiked and sanded, so you had no chance once on the green. But its that time of the year and I’m sure they will be excellent in the summer months.
Course that stands up to Winter Golf conditions
Lovely course, despite cold conditions the greens defend this course to the death. It’s a lovely layout, fairways in great condition, the pace of the greens really make it challenging but an overall highly enjoyable experience!
Great course for time of year
Played Royal Ascot last week (14thvJan) and the course has held well under the weather, great groundsman ship and green keeping, frost made the greens run fast during the morning but slow in the afternoon which madd you think more.
Rough. And Fairway both well maintained and the geese made an. Extra hazard for fun.
Club house friendly, good selection of ales and wines, great location.
Very Enjoyable
My first visit to Royal Ascot Golf Club. Very friendly welcome in the pro shop, very friendly members, course in excellent condition, especially the greens. Pace of play a little slow, however it was a beautiful day, so must have lured many members to the course to take advantage of it. Hopefully will be back again some time soon
Great course!
First time I played here, excellent course, facilities and staff. The fairways have suffered from lack of rain which is clearly not the club’s fault, greens were in superb condition despite this, members and staff very friendly. I’ll definitely come back!
Decent course
Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival in the pro shop.
The course is pretty enjoyable and condition was fairly good
Very busy but things kept moving.
Some interesting holes but also some not so interesting.
Overall worth a visit and the rate on offer was very good value
Royal ascot
Really good course. Bit wet so was a tough round. I'll be back in the spring.
Course in very wet conditions
Played the course just after 4 days of heavy rain. Greens were in excellent condition. All tee boxes were immaculate.
Some tee boxes a little bit wet, though clear puddles so you could adjust.
Fairways very playable. Even though soaking wet, they held the water really well.
The mud was not sticky, so trolly came of the course clean.
Trousers and shoes got splashed, though not complaining.
If you want to play when the weather is against you. I would recommend ascot….
Playable, enjoyable and testing in the worse conditions possible
Ascot golf
Course in fair condition
Greens very good
Staff freindly
Great course and amenities
Excellent course and facilities, really good quality fairways and greens and in a surprisingly quiet location. Enjoyable course layout and one I would play again.
Great course layout with a good combination of parkland holes
Great course layout with a good combination of parkland holes to make it quite enjoyable as well as challenging. Greens were perfect, fairways quite good despite the dry summer conditions and a number of well placed bankers. Just beware of the high rough on the edges and try to avoid it at all cost. Overall a good game of golf worth every penny. Great club house too.
Awful condition
I thought £23 for the round was good value before I arrived.
Unfortunately it turned out to be very overpriced. The course was in terrible condition. The fairways were the worst I’ve ever seen. The greens were poor. The overall condition was very bad.
I would not play the course again even for a lot less money.
Shame.
I played this course on 10 July and found the experience very disenchanting.
Having to play off the white tees, playing off 21, made the longer , 400yd+ par 4s intimidating and the third had a longer carry off the white tee to the fairway than I could drive. So I laid up to the ladies tee and so lost advantage to others with longer drives on top of about six bunkers strewn across the fairway. The club really needs to decide if it is a golf club or a wildlife reserve with so many areas, mostly of nettles, adding to the challenge of the course. The rough was unnecessarily jungle-like and didn't need to be as going in these areas was punishment enough. There is scant information on each hole on the website, no graphic hole guides to help plan your game, so ultimately I dispute that Royal Ascot is 'visitor friendly.' I won't return as there are hundreds of much better courses to play at.
