Not at it's best today. A shame.
Ruddington usually offers a friendly, fun and enjoyable round. Sadly, we did not enjoy it today. The fairways were pretty much non existent and in places looked like a farmers field. This is not typical - the course is usually very well presented and I assume that the very soggy underfoot conditions and slow draining soil did not allow for motorised mowing and cutting. As a result the round was even more of a battle than our very average good game expects and at £25 was poor value. However, huge credit must go to the greenkeepers who had the greens looking glorious considering the very wet weather. I am sure that the whole course will be splendid with more clement weather and that for the majority of the year will offer a good round and good value as it usually does.
Great course, varied holes
Lovely setup to course, no 2 holes the same and greens were in top notch condition. Will definitely visit again.
Bad weather 2 holes closef
Weather conditions inflence this review. We had no advance notice 2 holes were closed and winter tees were universal. Course was very muddy and very wet in parts . Off fairway areas grass was long making it difficult to find balls
Challenging but a cracking gem
Loved the layout and condition. Well placed bunkers, ditches and water, really makes you think
Busy
Beautiful course.,,, got to the 14th amd it was seriously back logged. Ended up walking off.
GUR
No compensation for not being able to play holes 8 and 9, disappointed that such information was not made known at time of booking £32 !
Superb!
From the friendly greeting, to the condition and playability of the course, all perfect!
Well stocked shop, brilliant pro, friendly bar atmosphere and good food. Highly recommended.
Very good
Decent course
Flat and greens were at a good pace
Middle of the fairway
The course was holding a lot of water. Tee shots were lost even when hitting fairways due to balls plugging. Zero carry on shots less in to greens which were firm and fluffy meaning the ball rolled but not true. Rough and semi rough was penal and longer then most courses, possibly down to the standing water preventing cutting. A tight course that will be better as things dry up.
Staff were friendly. Off course amenities limited.
The course was in dire condition when I played it in March 2023. All tee boxes were off mats, greens were covered in mud/worms and the fairways were bare. I was a one ball and it took almost 3 hours to complete the front 9 with the group behind me constantly hitting in to me despite me not being able to play as the groups in front were waiting too. To top it off only 16 holes were open which I did not know when I booked as it was advertised at an 18 hole round on GolfPass...
I understand it isn't perfect time of year to play but pace of play was truly shocking. It's a shame as the staff all seemed really friendly and the grounds the course is located on has the potential for a good gold course.
A friendly atmosphere
Attended alone but made welcome immediately.
Joined the company of Tim who explained the course in great detail as we went around.
Course is in good condition and enjoyable.
Will be back soon.
Ruddington Grange GC
Very well maintained course; greens, tee boxes and fairways excellent.
Challenging for a mid-level golfer. Narrow, with hazards set in positions to challenge your approaches.
Overall excellent, would recommend.
£35 for a Tuesday morning at 0740 was high but it’s a good course.
Nice Track
Ruddington is a lovely track. The day I played it only 16 holes were in play and the tees were well forward in some places but it was still well worth it. Go play it
Loved this course
Stumbled on this course when I was working away from home and loved it. Really challenging but the pay off on some holes for playing the risk was awesome!
Paired up with some random member and had a great round with some good company and some great advise.
Staff were friendly and a 4 ball of lovely older lady’s let me play through…… on the first tee!
100% recommend and would love to play there again some day.
