course in good condition for this time of the year good layout would go again
Great layout
I found the course to be in good condition and the staff in the pro shop to be friendly. There were some juniors in front of us for the last 5 holes who held us up and the groups behind us apparently they we playing in a comp. it would have been nice if they had some supervision and perhaps let us all through. Other than that a great day.
Thanks
Good allround course
Good course in good condition. Back 9 many fairways tree lined so straight driving a must. Not long but a good test of golf.
Great layout: tight driving course
This course is only 30 years old but the tree growth on this tight driving course makes it a real challenge. There are a few ponds and meandering streams that come in to play on may holes and accuracy off the tee is paramount to score well. While you generally always find a wayward tee shot, getting back into play is not easy and often results in a dropped shot. The course is often soft and damp and even after the long hot summer we have had, the greens were a bit soft underfoot and bumpy as a result. But well worth playing for between £20-25 visitor green fee.
Really enjoyable
Front 9 able to attack the course and make some scores. Fairways and greens excellent all the way round. Back 9 course gets its own back a bit. Tighter drives, water hazards, deep bunkers. Considering we have had such a hot summer the course was in very good nick and the greens immaculate. Staff very friendly. Members also welcoming. Only slight issue was a group of 3 jumped on the back nine just in front of us as we pulled up to the tenth tee so it messed the pace of play up for a bit but apart from that an excellent course and would definitely recommend.
Boggy Ruddington
Unfortunately the course struggled to cope with overnight rain and was boggy all the way round. Having checked the website before turning up it mentioned no buggies. We found that 6 holes were on really poor (amateurish) winter greens (badly placed on a couple) - The website late afternoon was updated to point this out - but we wouldn't have bothered had we known. Also, the 18th (Par 4) was having drainage work carried out and was set 150 yards forward making it a Par 3 distance effectively. The greens hadn't been cut for a while (I guess due to the conditions). A shame really as it looks a nice course - but with a Friend coming up from Essex to play had I known we would have booked elsewhere. Poor form that the Pro Shop didn't warn us.
Value for money
Played on a sunny Friday. Course in fine condition. Arrived early and had coffee from the kiosk on the patio. Enjoyed the round played at a reasonable pace. Course busy, but no waiting. Only hitch was that no hot food was available after 3pm. Great value for money with a ‘hot deal’.
Great layout, some pretty dramatic holes, with lots of nice elevation changes. Some narrow fairways, but also a few chances to open the shoulders up and smash one off the tee. The rough is very forgiving, probably the worst that could happen to an errant shot is find your line to the green blocked by a tree.
Greens had been treated and were very uneven, pace of play was dreadful due to a slow 4 balls poor on course etiquette.
Overall a stunning looking course in parts, would definitely play again.
Great condition
Course is in excellent condition, pace can be a little slow but people are friendly and generally let you play through
Excellent Course
Well maintained fairways and greens. Good value. Will play again.
Disappointed
Day off from work and looking forward to round at Ruddington
Unfortunately competition on and pace of play very very slow
Looked at website but no mention in diary so booked using Tee-times
Interesting layout
Nice course interesting layout..staff friendly and acceptable pace of play, would return.
