Greens need to be taken care of
I have played here before and I had a good time. The greens did have a lot of weeds on them so they were bumpy (POA). If you don’t mind missing a few putts then it should be ok. Other than that we had a good time and hope to be back once the greens are cleared .
Greens need work
The course (greens) are overrun with Poi Anna…very tough to putt on
The greens.
Such a great course layout, a beautifully designed course. Fairways are nice, clubhouse is awesome, staff is awesome. Food is always great. The one problem right now is the greens. They are absolutely taken over by some type of invasive weed/fungus . They are covered in whatever this stuff is. Makes it almost impossible to put on. I love this course, but the greens are so bad right now..
Canyon West
Just like all courses this time of year.
The greens are still filling in.
Hard to putt for a score.
Fun layout, poor condition
I love the layout of Canyon West and have played it since it first opened. It's been a few years since I've been there, and I was disappointed to see how poor the condition of the course is, especially the greens. They are overrun with weeds, making reliable putting impossible. I would write it off to time of year, but I played another course in the area two days later and had a completely different experience with course conditions.
Carts
I also forgot to mention the carts would loose power about every other shot or two saying too close to green or off the fairway. Very annoying
Poa annua
If you like putting through poa annua bumps and hitting off dirt fairways and dealing with an obstinate pro shop person….. go play here………never again for me !!
Terrible
This use to be one of my favorite courses. But I guess the course management is letting it go. The fairways are hard as asphalt, damaged areas are unplayable. Greens have poa annua has cover the greens so no put will track. Poor conditions on a good course!
Sad
Beautiful area, nice layout, but sad because greens are beyond repair (poa annua invasion), and fairways weren't any better. Course has great potential, but sadly it seems mother nature has far outpaced expenditures
Disappointed
The Poa annua on the greens was terrible making it impossible to keep a putt online.Fairways were mainly just dirt Was told they had just hired a new maintenance company We will see if any improvements are made.If not I want be shelling out $40 to play that caliber of course.
Carts
We like the course and staff but we had an issue with one of the carts stopping and we had to reset it multiple times barely making it back to the pro shop.
Great Layout
Love the course. The layout is great and very fair and you can score well. Greens were great and everyone was super friendly. I just thought the fairways were bad. It’s hard to judge fairways in the winter when they’re dormant and it definitely wouldn’t stop me from recommending the course or playing it again.
Pretty fun course! Will play again in the Spring.
Played Canyon West for the first time today with my Pop. I think the "hot deal" was about $40/person, which isn't bad in the DFW area.
Course was in fair shape considering it's January. A few spots on the course hadn't drained from the recent rain so there was some ugly standing water "hazards" in two of the fairways. Other than that though, course is well maintained. Greens were rolling true and relatively fast.
Back 9 layout is more fun than the front in my opinion. Most of the holes on the front are relatively straightforward. A few more doglegs and hidden tee/approach shots on the back that force you to shape your shots a bit more. A few of the Par 3's are cool signature type holes, 12 is a semi-island Par 3 and 8 is another cool Par 3 with a big time elevated tee. Par 5's are all pretty short/reachable for good players.
Staff was friendly, pace of play was great, location is a bit out of the way unless you live in the Weatherford area.
All in all, I look forward to playing again in a few months and would recommend!
Very enjoyable course
Wonderful course with great scenery, can tell a lot of love was put into the course. Would be 5 stars with perfect green conditions.
Sadly disappointed
Greens were terrible fairways terrible! Sadly disappointed ! This use to be a well maintained course! Gone downhill quickly! I was anticipating moving to this neighborhood just to be on this course! But do to the lack of course conditions and management glad I reconsidered! This course needs a makeover, quickly before it is too late!
Beautiful Scenery
This is a relatively straightforward course that is an absolute blast to play. There is some significant undulation that makes several of the tee shots both fun and stunning. Seems like great value for the money.
